I am deeply concerned that Representative Chaffetz, as Chair of the House Oversight Committee, is not properly holding Donald Trump accountable for his conflicts of interest. In August, Rep Chaffetz wisely said “If you’re going to run and try to become the president of the United States, you’re going to have to open up your kimono and show everything, your tax returns, your medical records,” But these days he seems to be giving Trump a free pass and instead going after public servants like the head of the Office of Government Ethics. As a newspaper in Utah I ask you to cover this important story. Based on the recent poll by the Salt Lake City Tribune, the people of Utah want Mr. Chaffetz to do his job. I applaud the Salt Lake City Tribune’s coverage of this story. I hope that you will serve your role as our watchdogs of democracy and cover this important story as well.

Hello,
As an American citizen, I am concerned about Donald Trump's potential conflicts of interest. As the president of the United States, he should be open about his tax records and his business holdings, and he should divest himself of business and financial assets while holding office.
As a part of America's independent press, I hope you will cover Representative Chaffetz's actions as Chair of the House Oversight Committee. Over the summer, he was insisting, quite rightly, that Donald Trump disclose medical records and tax returns. However, he has since dropped this stance, and is using his role to investigate other public servants, such as the head of the Office of Government Ethics.
Since Sentinel News publishes news of interest to the constituents of Rep. Chaffetz, I hope you will cover this story as it unfolds. The role of the press is being threatened, now more than ever, and a rigorous application of its intended purpose will only help reassert its value. Based on the recent poll by the Salt Lake City Tribune, the people of Utah want Mr. Chaffetz to do his job, and we hope you will support their voice in democracy. I can imagine that you have already received numerous messages about this; please know my intention is not to annoy, merely to urge action.
Thank you, and have a wonderful day.

Dear Editor,
I am writing as I am deeply concerned that Representative Chaffetz, as Chair of the House Oversight Committee, is not holding Donald Trump accountable for his conflicts of interest. In August he wisely said “If you’re going to run and try to become the president of the United States, you’re going to have to open up your kimono and show everything, your tax returns, your medical records,” However, instead of holding Trump's feet to the fire, he is going after public servants like the head of the Office of Government Ethics. I ask you to cover this important story in your newspaper. Based on the recent poll by the Salt Lake City Tribune, the people of Utah want Mr. Chaffetz to do his job. I commend the Salt Lake City Tribune’s coverage of this story. I hope that you will embrace your role as our watchdogs of democracy and cover this important story.

I am not a Utah resident, but I am a concerned US citizen, who is deeply concerned that Representative Chaffetz, as Chair of the House Oversight Committee, is not holding Donald Trump accountable for his conflicts of interest. His conflicts threaten to undermine our entire democracy.

To Whom It May Concern,
Thank you for taking the time to read my message today. I am writing to urge you to cover the unfolding story of Congressman Jason Chaffetz in his position Chair of the House Oversight Committee.
Though I am not a Utah resident, I believe that the issues at stake regarding Representative Chaffetz are of national importance. He has a responsibility to the American people to investigate President Trump and urge him divest his financial assets and release his tax returns; and the press has a responsibility to honestly reveal to readers everywhere the truth of the situation. Chaffetz, who once claimed “If you’re going to run and try to become the president of the United States, you’re going to have to open up your kimono and show everything, your tax returns, your medical records,” has now changed his tune in an effort to quiet those seeking the accountability they deserve in a President. Among those who are calling on Chaffetz to investigate the matter are 65% of surveyed Utah voters. This statistic was released by the Salt Lake City Tribune, and other state publications have a responsibility to similarly represent the needs and concerns of the people.
Thank you for your consideration,

Dear Editor,
I am greatly concerned that Utah Representative Chaffetz, as Chair of the House Oversight Committee, is not holding Donald Trump accountable for his conflicts of interest. In August, Mr. Chaffetz wisely said “If you’re going to run and try to become the president of the United States, you’re going to have to open up your kimono and show everything, your tax returns, your medical records,” Recently, however, it seems that he has changed his stance, letting Trump make ill-advised decisions regarding his assets without regard to whether such actions in fact eliminate the conflicts of interest at issue. Rather, Mr. Chaffetz is now attacking public servants, like the head of the Office of Government Ethics, who has, in fact, stated that Trump's actions are not ethical.
As a newspaper in Utah, I ask you to cover this important story so that Mr. Chaffetz's constituents can be rightfully informed. Based on the recent poll by the Salt Lake City Tribune, the people of Utah want Mr. Chaffetz to do his job. I applaud the Salt Lake City Tribune’s coverage of this story and hope that you, too, will serve your role as our watchdogs of democracy.
Sincerely,

Dear editor,
I am worried that Representative Chaffetz, as Chair of the House Oversight Committee, is no longer interested in holding Donald Trump accountable for his conflicts of interest—despite the fact that In August he said http://www.cnn.com/2016/08/24/politics/jason-chaffetz-donald-trump-tax-returns-kimono-hillary-clinton/ Now that Mr. Trump is president, it seems like R. Chaffetz has changed his tune. I would love for you to cover this story, which is especially important to us here in Utah. In a recent poll by the Salt Lake City Tribune, 65% of Utahns want Chaffetz to follow through with the investigation of the President’s conflicts of interest. The Salt Lake Tribune’s coverage of this story has been great. I hope that you will serve your role as our watchdogs of democracy and cover this important story as well.

To the Editor:
I’m writing as a newspaper reader and concerned citizen. As we all learned during his recent press conference, Donald Trump refuses to divest from his businesses or even release his tax returns. He has clear conflicts of interest that pose potential threats to our national security. As Chair of the House Oversight Committee, Representative Chaffetz has the ability and the duty to investigate these conflicts.
The people of Utah object to the Representative's failure to do so thus far. (You may have seen the new poll by The Salt Lake Tribune and Hinckley Institute of Politics, which found 65 percent of registered Utah voters support a full probe into Trump’s finances.)
This is an urgent matter of national security, and Chaffetz is positioned in the very center of a potential crisis. Please give this issue the bold coverage it deserves in The Sentinel News. As a publication with a stated commitment to preserving the Constitution, I imagine this would be a priority of the highest order. Only if Chaffetz investigates can the people of Utah know for sure whether the Constitution has been violated.
Sincerely,

to me
Dear Editor,
My name is Jordan Ardoin. I don't live in your community. I don't even live in Utah. I live in a small town in Northwestern Florida, and I have heard of your paper because right now, you have the opportunity to positively impact our whole nation. Representative Chaffetz, of Utah's third congressional district, is not holding Donald Trump accountable for his conflicts of interest, and I believe that Chaffetz's constituents deserve to know how he is failing them. As Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, it is Representative Chaffetz's job to investigate Donald Trump's potential conflicts of interest, but he is not doing that job. In fact, Representative Chaffetz is resisting efforts to investigate Donald Trump's failure to truly divest his assets or put them in a blind trust. According to a recent poll conducted by the Salt Lake City Tribune, the majority of Utah citizens support an investigation into Donald Trump's potential conflicts of interest, but Chaffetz is resisting (source: http://www.sltrib.com/home/4831057-155/ethics-official-responds-to-chaffetz-criticisms). Representative Chaffetz's constituents deserve to know that he refuses to listen to the will of the people. They should know that he is not doing his job as Chairman of the House Oversight Committee. I urge you to do your job as the press, as watchdogs of society, and tell the people in your community about Chaffetz's failures. I urge you to expose his refusal to investigate the leader of our government, and I urge you to do everything you can to hold both Chaffetz and Trump accountable.
Sincerely,
Jordan Ardoin
