Willard—Kindergarten Roundup is for children who will be (5) five years of age BEFORE September 2, 2015.  At this time we are trying to locate incoming kindergarten students in the Willard/Perry communities. If you have a child eligible for kindergarten, please contact the school by calling 435-734-4934, or you can stop by the school at 40 W 50 S, between 9:00 p.m. and 3 p.m. The actual roundup date for Willard will be announced.

It’s never too early to plan for emergencies, but it is all too often too late. CERT classes will be offered again this spring. The dates are March 4, 7, 10, 12, and 14. Weekday classes are from 6:00 pm-9:30 pm and Saturday classes are from 8:00 am–4:00 pm. This is great information to help your family become prepared when an emergency hits. An emergency can be as little as the power being out for more than a couple of hours or the water being turned off because of a line break to a major disaster such as an earthquake. Are you prepared?  Contact Sue Anderson at 435-723-8903 to sign up or if you have any questions.

Announcements from the Police Department—There have been a number of burglaries around Box Elder County. Remember to lock your doors, keep vehicles locked, and don’t leave your garage door up. The Police Department requests residents keep an eye out for strange vehicles in the area, especially at different hours than you would normally see vehicles. If you see suspicious vehicles, contact Box Elder County Dispatch (435-734-3800 for non-emergencies or 911 if it is an emergency) with as much information as possible. For example type of vehicle, color, license plate number, etc.

Was there a new gun for Christmas?  Chief Loveland wants to remind you that shooting within City limits is not allowed. City limits are about to the second bench. Also, make sure you are not on private property.

Willard Dike Area—Please be considerate of those who are using the trail system by cleaning up after your pets and not littering. Paintballing is not allowed anywhere in the dike area.

Stop Signs—Please be cautious when approaching intersections where you know there have been stop signs. The maintenance personnel have noticed several around town that have been removed or pushed over. If you notice a sign is missing or laying on the ground, contact the Willard City Offices at 435-734-9881.

2015 municipal elections are just around the corner. Willard City will be holding a municipal election on November 3, 2015. There are three (3) City Council positions available. Each are 4 year terms. Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted beginning June 1, 2015.

Annexation petition is moving along.   Rocky Mountain Power had signed off on it; the Forest Service is neutral; and a lot of the residents have signed it.  But, one more large developer is needed to sign the petition before being submitted to guarantee the petition.

City Planner Bryce Wheelwright reported on the Planning Commission.   He then presented the attached timeline on the Dike project with completion in 2017. He explained the design has not been decided yet and the drawings from the Utah State University students are only concepts, some of which will not work with the terrain. He stated the actual design may include elements from some of the designs.
