Seat Belts:
I am 77 but alert, have good vision, and I drive alone extensively. I am 5'3" and seat belts choke me coming right across my neck and the bottom belt cuts right across my stoma - I've had a urostomy and have a urostomy bag on my abdomen. I CANNOT safely or comfortably wear a seatbelt. No, I've tried all adjustments, it doesn't work. Seat belts were NOT designed for little people but apparently for big men without breasts.
I travel alone so if my body flies in an accident, it will hurt no one else.
I have lived a good life, all my children are safely raised and launched as are most of my grandchildren. My goal is not to prolong my life, but to enjoy it as long as I am alive. Seat belts preclude my "enjoyment of life". I've survived fine for 77 years without them and don't need them now.
I was in a serious accident a few years ago when a lady ran the stop sign straight into me. If I had had on my seat belt, I likely would have died. It goes both ways.
What are they going to pass next? Mandatory braces for all crooked teeth? Yes. This is the Communism we used to fear when I was in school 50 years ago. Big Brother Is Here - Watching our Every Move.
