Brigham City Museum of Art and History’s
Family Day
Saturday, March 8
10 a.m. to noon
Visitors who have viewed the exhibit “The Bison: American Icon” at the Brigham City Museum of Art and History have learned many things about the massive animals that once thundered across North America, notably they can find grass under deep snow with their keen sense of smell.
The museum is providing an additional opportunity to learn more about the bison as well as the Indians that were dependent on it for survival at Family Day on Saturday, March 8 from 10 a.m. to noon. Admission is free. The museum is at 24 North 300 West. The entrance is on west side.
Activities planned for the event include making bone necklaces, face masks and parfleches. An Indian parfleche is a rawhide bag typically used for holding dried meats. Participants can also design a hide, play board games, color bison images and read books on display such as Buffalo Song, The Buffalo and the Indians, The Jump and Saving the Buffalo, to name a few. Bison yarn crafts will also be offered.
