Haunted Artworks and More

With the same flair and imagination that “vampires,” ”skeletons,” “bats” and “zombies” celebrate the Halloween season carving jack-o-lanterns, bobbing for apples and trick-or-treating, the Brigham City Museum of Art and History is observing “mischief month” with an exhibition of artworks designed to thrill and sometimes frighten.
Some of the “haunted” works hanging on museum walls through Nov. 5 are ghostly mansions; witch mountain; spooky barns; flying orange and pink unicorns; marauding crickets; a half-lion, half-cat beast; and gigantic seagulls.
The public can view the exhibition of work from the museum’s permanent collection at 24 North 300 West. The entrance is on the west side. Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is free. For further information, please phone (435) 226-1439 or visit www.brighamcitymuseum.org.
“Sweet treats” awaiting visitors to the museum are artworks by such luminaries as J.T. Harwood, Waldo Midgley, Lee Greene Richards, Theodore Milton Wassmer, Lee K. Parkinson, Ray Jeppsen and Jessie Larson.
Museum Director Kaia Landon encourages everyone to wear Halloween costumes when they come to the museum.
