A special thank you to Smith and Edwards
and Kathy Smith for being our host for this event.
Come listen to Bruce H. Porter. You will be pleased to know that all of the content is scripturally grounded and faith-promoting. The material is entirely consistent with scripture, drawn from historical documents, archaeology and the Bible.
While the presentation has a LDS element to it, any interested persons of all faiths are welcome to attend. Anyone curious about history that you won't find in your average history books will enjoy the event. Above all, the theme focuses on the ancient, sacred and immutable connections between modern America and ancient Israel.
Everyone will find something of interest!

Presenter for this event
Bruce H. Porter earned his bachelor's degree in Ancient Near Eastern Studies from BYU and went on to receive his master's degree in Middle East Studies with an emphasis in Semitic languages. His Doctorate work is in the field of History of Religions, with emphasis in Egyptian religion and textual studies, and a minor in Anthropology.
Brother Porter has done extensive research for the Religious Studies Center on the Pearl of Great Price and the Book of Abraham as well as in major museums and libraries of Europe and the United States. He has presented papers for the Society for Early Historic Archaeology and the Journal of Egyptian Archaeology. Brother Porter co-authored a paper with Stephen Ricks published in By Study and Also By Faith, a two-volume work honoring the late Hugh Nibley. During his graduate work, he assisted in the writing of a documentary on Egyptian archaeology and worked as a technical director on the film. Now semi-retired, he is a sought after speaker.
Brother Porter belies the popular image of the staid, distant professor type. He is affable, approachable, humorous, pre-eminently knowledgeable- and total focused on making your time with him informative, fun and memorable. He makes people feel at ease and keeps them wanting more. Ask him questions and you can expect real answers in return. Happy and satisfied defines the many fortunate people who have completed tours with him or attended his presentations.
In essence, nobody does it better than Bruce Porter - author, scholar, and presenter.
