LIGHTS ARE ON!

With Thanksgiving there is the annual lighting of the parks, trees and yes Temple Square. It’s a much anticipated moment for everyone when you know the Christmas season is upon us. On November 24th the magic started to happen in the area, with Temple Square in Salt Lake City having the lights turn on about 5:30, the square came alive with festive lights and decorations for the Christmas holiday. Not to be missed is the marvelous Cedar of Lebanon and the life size nativity scene staged on the lawn in front of the North Visitors Center, bringing focus to the reason for the season. Along with the lights, find inspiration in the handmade paper lanterns bearing the message of “peace” in many different languages, as well as the variety of ethnic nativity scenes on display at the Church Office Building plaza. Traditional Christmas and gospel songs play in the background as you wander through the merrily-lit grounds but be sure to catch live performances from local bands, choirs, and artists that are featured in various venues around the 35 acres of Temple Square, providing the soundtrack to your Christmas time enjoyment.

The brightest and most remarkable phenomenon that happens all over the state ushering in the Holidays with joy and warmth. Fantasy at the Bay had their 1st lighting of the lights with Santa doing the honor. They are open 7 days a week from 5-10pm. Entrance is $10 per carload (up to 8 people) M-Th, and $15 F-Su. Santa is in his workshop Friday through Monday. Purchase Snowflake Glasses for $1.50 to add some fun to the lights. Enjoy Christmas Music, Lights, a Train Ride, and if you get hungry The Toasted Cheeser will have food and goodies for sale.

All over the area I see Santa arriving and lighting ceremonies happening. With delight from the children to get a chance to talk with Santa to the magical lights around you can’t help get into the spirt of the holidays. There is a unique opportunity coming on December 7th, a Night with Santa and his Live Reindeer will be at Heritage of Brigham 647 South Main St. in Brigham City. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will hand out candy canes, take a picture and the best thing is seeing the Live Reindeer. There’s Hot Chocolate, rolls and cookies come join in the reindeer games from 5:30-8:00pm.

Have a wonderful experience for the upcoming holidays take some time and look around and the memories will return of simpler times, and make a few new ones. Season Greetings to all!
