Editor,
We are producing a musical by STEPHEN SCHWARTZ, the creator of WICKED, called CHILDREN OF EDEN. This is a beautiful story of relationships, family, love, loss, and especially… second chances.
I truly feel that our community should not miss this fascinating production simply because of the beautiful message that it has, but also because it is full of exciting music and choreography, special effects, puppets for every animal on Noah’s Ark (some life-size), and a story that will leave you (as the NEW YORK TIMES reported) “with an insight into your existence that you didn’t have when you walked in.”
This is also a production that has been 3 years in the making as it is my Thesis Project for a Master’s Degree in Educational Theater Production.
I truly have fallen in love with the show, the script and the music. The greatest message that it teaches us comes from a line in the final song of the show. It teaches us that the greatest gift we have ever been given is the gift of agency. The lyrics say: “There is no journey gone so far, so far we cannot stop and change direction. Our hands can choose to stop the knife, our hearts can choose to stop the hating. The will in each of us is free, it’s in our hands.” What a beautiful message for our community to hear. What a beautiful message for each and every family in our community to hear. I truly hope they get the opportunity.
The production opens on February 28th and runs also on March 1st, 2nd, 4th and 8th. You can purchase tickets online at
whs.wsd.net and click on the Children of Eden poster. There is a youth and senior special discount price and an adult price. The production begins at 7pm each night.
