Dear Editor,
There is no way the USA should be sending troops to Africa for humanitarian purposes.
Soldiers are for defending our nation... not being medical clinicians to Third World countries where serious contagion is having a devastating effect.
Everyone knows this mission is specifically to help with the Ebola outbreak in that part of the world, and that is all the more reason not to send them.
Some of these service men and women likely will contract the disease and possibly die. Some of them could in all likelihood bring the virus back to America when they are released from this temporary duty.
Even with a quarantine period upon their return, they will worry being around loved ones for fear that they might be carriers. It's too much to ask of them!
It doesn't matter what the Commander-in-Chief orders, we must not allow this to happen. Everyone needs to be contacting their Senators and Congressman demanding that all funding for such a misguided humanitarian mission be cut off immediately.
