Dear Editor - Contempt of Court Ruling in Kentucky was an Over-Reach of Judiciary

Tuesday, September 8, 2015 - 8:45am

The contempt of court ruling against Kentucky clerk Kim Davis was based on the rule of man... not the rule of law. We allow Conscientious Objectors to serve in other capacities in the military rather than fight... because of their religious convictions.

This judge wanted to force Kim Davis to comply with how he felt she should act. There was no due process involved. The judge was very wrong in what he did. And the Supreme Court did NOT have the right to rule on such a matter to begin with! (Read Supreme Court Chief Justice Roberts' consenting view where he clearly points this out.)

There is no provision anywhere in the US Constitution that discusses marriage in any way. That is a right reserved exclusively to the States. And the Kentucky law is already very clear in defining what marriage is. Therefore, she and every other employee of the State have to right to enforce the Kentucky law and disregard any illegal SCOTUS ruling.

This is a case of judicial over-reach in America. Unless we rein in the Judiciary (both local judges and the Supreme Court of the USA), we are headed for serious trouble.
