Some have been calling for more gun restrictions. There's a problem with that.
First of all, the Founding Fathers did not create the right to keep and bear arms. They merely wrote the Second Amendment to protect that right which we already had. In fact, the right to bear arms is a God-given, natural, fundamental, unalienable, Constitutionally-protected right. One which no one can take away.
It states that our right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. That is a restriction on the government not to interfere with this most important and basic right to individual self-protection of life and property. In fact, without it, all our other rights could be taken away.
In the last century, 200 million people were first disarmed and then executed… by their own governments. So the greatest enemy we have to fear is our own administration. If we allow them to get into the business of registering and licensing guns, we open the door for confiscation, which almost always follows registration. We can't do that.
The NRA is probably the most patriotic organization to exist in American history. And they have been doing more to promote gun safety than any other organization… since the mid-1800s.
We don't need stricter gun laws. We need more law-abiding citizens to carry a gun. That always reduces violent crime and will actually make our nation safer.
