Autumn in Utah is full of color!  It’s also full of excitement as kids everywhere are giddy thinking about Halloween coming up and planning out their costumes. And, of course, jumping in a pile of leaves!  Meanwhile, parents everywhere are scouting out ways to entertain the whole family.  Never fear! There are plenty of activities to do this time of year including pumpkin picking, corn mazes, wagon rides—the list goes on.

So, if you’re looking for a family friendly destination this fall look no further than Gibson’s Green Acres Dairy located in Ogden.  A little history about them: They are a 5th generation dairy farm.  Ron Gibson, along with his brother, Kerry, and his Dad, Wayne, are partners. Since 1994, they have expanded the family farm from 125 cows and 100 acres to 1500 dairy cows and farming 1500 acres in Weber, Davis and Box Elder County.  Andrea Gibson, wife of Ron Gibson, tells us, “Farming is our passion.  We love Weber County and want to continue to farm here for generations to come. We are a family who LOVE people.”

Andrea tells us that, “In order to to sustain our farm as Urban development grows around us we need to do two things: 1. Share our story and give farm experiences for our neighbors and 2. Diversify.”  This is why they have chosen to host the agricultural experience where families can come visit, play, enjoy and be a part of the farm, too.

With that being said, Gibson’s Green Acres offers a huge variety of activities for the family. With a 6-acre pumpkin patch there is plenty of choices for everyone!

Families will be able to:

*Take a wheel barrow into the field and pick their own pumpkins to take home.

 *Giant slides,

 *Wagon rides around the dairy

 *Petting zoo

 *Farm games

 * 4 mazes which include a small nursery-rhyme themed hay maze for children, a 10-minute easy corn maze for those who don’t want to get lost, and a HUGE corn maze that is never haunted. It is open for flashlights at night and treasure hunts during the day.  There is a separate haunted maze, however, on Friday and Saturday nights.

An exciting and unique feature about Gibson’s Green Acres is the fact that they are the first corn maze in Utah to use Precision Planting with GPS. Most mazes plant the corn and later farmers have to go in and cut it down once it’s about a foot tall.  Gibson’s Green Acres didn’t have to do that and instead Andrea designed the maze herself.  She then had it put into their GPS unit on their corn planter.  Andrea tells us that, “We just drove back and forth in the field and the planter did all the work.  It planted seed where we needed it and didn’t plant where our paths were needed!”

Go on over to Gibson’s Green Acres for a truly exciting fall experience!  For more details visit their website at www.greenacresdairy.com
