Heritage Theatre presents: Disney's Beauty and the Beast

Friday, November 25, 2016 - 7:00pm to Saturday, December 17, 2016 - 9:30pm

Step into the enchanted world of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, to be presented by the Heritage Community Theatre as their Christmas theatrical offering. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast takes place in a small provincial town in France and begins when a prince is transformed into a hideous beast by an enchantress as punishment for his cruel and selfish ways. When Maurice, the town’s eccentric inventor, becomes lost in the woods on the way to the fair to show off his latest invention, he seeks shelter in an old castle, only to find its master to be a horrible beast that takes him captive. The inventor’s daughter, an adventurous young woman named Belle, trades herself for her father’s freedom when she finds him in the castle. She soon discovers enchanted objects that serve the beast, and they try to make her new life easier. In order to become human again the Beast must earn Belle’s love before it’s too late. Based on the Academy-Award winning animated feature, the stage version includes all of the memorable songs from the animated film plus a few new songs written especially for the Broadway musical.

Director Judean Parkinson says, “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is a show that has always been on my director’s bucket list. This will be a magical experience for young and old alike to see as part of their Christmas celebration, and our talented, animated cast that brings the story to life.” Heading the cast are Kenzie Pace of Willard as Belle and Stefan Kurzius from North Ogden as The Beast. Other enchanted characters include Troy Hone as Lumiere, Adam Slee as Cogsworth, Nedra Pace as Mrs. Potts, Ian Capener as Chip, Marsha Holmes as the Wardrobe, and Dawn Allen as Babette. Dave Sensenbaugh hilariously plays Gaston, with sidekick Jon Allen as LeFou. The ensemble, however, is a talented and colorful cast who double between members of a French community and servants in the castle.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast will open Friday, November 25, and will play Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays through December 17 at 7:30 p.m., with matinees at 2:00 p.m. on December 3, 10, and 17. Closing performance will be the matinee on December 17. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and children 12 and under. The Heritage Theater is located at 2505 South Hwy 89 in Perry. Tickets may be obtained online at www.heritagetheatreutah.com, by phone at 435-723-8392, or at the box office Mondays and Wednesdays through Saturdays between the hours of 11:00 and 2:00 p.m. The box office also opens on show nights at 7:00 p.m.

For an enchanted evening, come “Be Our Guest” at the Heritage Theatre.
