Weber Pathways Event Alert - Dinner with Pete McBride

Friday, March 13, 2015 - 5:30pm

OGDEN, UT -- Weber Pathways is excited to feature award winning writer/photographer Pete McBride at this year's 12th annual Author Dinner. This inspiring event will be held Friday, March 13th at Hub 801, 3525 Riverdale Road, in Ogden.

“Presentation:  “A Tribute to Wilderness: 50 Years Preserving& Connecting.”

Native Coloradan Pete McBride has spent almost two decades studying the world with his camera. A self-taught, award-winning photographer, filmmaker and writer, he has traveled on assignment to over 65 countries for the publications of the National Geographic Society, Smithsonian, Outside, Men’s Journal, Esquire and many others.

Pete is passionate about storytelling and unique, gripping ways to communicate them, whether it involves vantages from 20,000 feet or swimming below icebergs. His perspective on capturing water-related stories led American Photo Magazine to list Pete as "one of the top five water photographers" in the nation.

After a decade working mostly abroad, Pete decided to focus his cameras closer to home on a subject closer to his heart. Combining his passion for aviation and his belief in conservation, he spent over two years documenting his local river — the Colorado. This journey culminated in the acclaimed coffee table book: “The Colorado River: Flowing Through Conflict”, an award-winning short film, “Chasing Water” and a traveling museum exhibit/ lecture currently touring the U.S. Pete’s  film "Chasing Water" has won over 20 film festival awards including "Best Short Documentary" at Canada's Banff Mtn. Film Festival.

When not on assignment, you can find Peter in the mountains or on the rivers around the Roaring Fork Valley, Colorado.

Music will be provided by Raven Spirit

The evening will also feature food from the Union Grill.

Greenwood Charter School Groundbreaking

Saturday, February 14, 2015 - 10:00am

Valentine Ground Breaking Families,

We had a super great Family Night this evening with our families:  thank-you for your support!  We have had an additional update this evening for our Ground Breaking that we need to share with our families:

We will need to move the Celebration to the Harrisville Cabin.  We haven’t officially closed on the property and we don’t want to bring liability to the owner by having our celebration on the property.  The good news is this will give us more opportunity for our activities that we originally planned for our kids.  So….

·         Masters of None, a fun local band, takes the “stage” at 9:50am

·         10:10am our board chair, city officials and our developer will have some remarks and recognitions

·         GW t-shirts will be for sale in many sizes to fit your whole family *$10*

·         A special art piece- we want all of our students to help with. We will be hand-stamping a tree mural of our kids’ hands for them to sign and for us to hang up in our school, remembering our Ground Breaking Day!

·         2 Liter Bottle gardens with Garden Crew:  Bring your 2 Liter bottles and we will have the soil and seeds for planting .

·         It may be beautiful weather for us to have some activities outside- there are picnic benches and a park for the kids to play.

Come join us on your Valentine’s Day.  We love you and want to celebrate the growth of our school together with the families that support us!

We have expanded our social media connections to better serve our families:

·         http://instagram.com/greenwood4kids/

·         https://www.facebook.com/GreenWoodCharterSchool

Help us keep connected with you!

Ground Breaking Families:

Welcome to our new families, and this week to our first 4 GreenWood teachers!!!  WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!  Our Interview Panel met with these individuals this week as part of our interview process.  I am super excited to have them join our GreenWood family.  Teachers are the most integral part of our GreenWood mission and I am confident that these four will set the stage for the additional teachers and staff that we hire on to build GreenWood from its beginning.   Two have Masters Degrees, one is from Wisconsin working in Environmental Education, one is stationed in Japan, and all four are passionate about GreenWood and building our school for your students!  We will get bios up soon!

SO much going on with GreenWood this week!  Are you feeling the buzz?  This is getting exciting and we need your help!

Ground Breaking:  This is going to be so fun!  We have a big morning planned, Masters of None takes the “stage” at 9:50am.  At 10:00am our board chair, city officials and our developer will have some remarks and recognitions, and then it is time to PARTAY!!!  We will have pinecone crafts, recycled 2L bottle gardens. GW t-shirts for sale for the whole family for $10, and a special art piece that we want all of our students to help with.  We will be hand-stamping a tree mural of our kids’ hands for them to sign and for us to hang up in our school, remembering our Ground Breaking Day!  Our Gardening Crew is working on supplies, but you can help us too:  Please help us by bringing empty 2L bottles, scissors, and serrated knives to help us make our gardens.
