SALT LAKE CITY (Sept. 23, 2016) – The Office of Gov. Gary R. Herbert and the Utah Board of Juvenile Justice invite seventh and eighth grade students to participate in the seventeenth annual Do the Write Thing Challenge aimed at combating youth violence in homes, schools and neighborhoods.

Governor appoints new state senator and representative

SALT LAKE CITY (Sept. 21, 2016) – Gov. Gary R. Herbert has appointed Don Ipson to serve as state senator in senate district 29 and Walter Brooks as state representative in house district 75. The senate vacancy was created by the resignation of Sen. Steve Urquhart on Sept. 9.

“I am confident that as a state representative, Walt Brooks will serve our state and his district with diligence and integrity. I look forward to working with him in this new role,” Gov. Herbert said.
