Growing the Best Produce Possible to Help Others

Harrisville- Different varieties of vegetables are growing very well out at the Harrisville Crops Welfare Project and will soon be on their way to the Bishops’ storehouse and different food banks to help out those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to have fresh produce. The garden is one of many different gardens, farms, and orchards that are owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as part of its welfare and humanitarian programs. All of the produce grown at these centers is made available to help others at no cost.

Weber County- Do you remember or have ever heard of the Ogden Rodeo Band?  Most of us would say no.  With the Pioneer Days coming up, Jerry Harrop likes to share his knowledge about a piece of history about the band.

The Union Pacific Band was organized for forty years touring the U.P. Railroad system back in the late 1800’s/early 1900’s. The band was composed of local, talented musicians; later becoming the Ogden Rodeo Band.

Utah Lawmakers May Ditch No Child Left Behind Waiver and Common Core at the Same Time

The nationwide Common Core educational standard sticks in the political craw of a number of Utah Republican legislators.

How’s this for a radical idea?

Reject the waiver/federal funding for George Bush’s No Child Left Behind – now widely condemned by Republicans across the land and in Utah – fund the lost federal money to the tune of $26 million, if need be, and see the behinds of both Common Core and No Child Left Behind.
