Harrisville Helps Prepare Residents for Emergencies

April 17th was the 2014 Great Utah ShakeOut day, and Harrisville held classes throughout the day to help residents prepare in the event of a real earthquake or other natural disasters. Classes were held at the Harrisville Cabin throughout the day. They included emergency preparedness, freezer bag meals, self-reliance, preparing pets for a disaster, and preparing children for a disaster.

Mayor Bruce Richins awarded Geniel Anderson with a National Service Recognition Award on April 1st at Majestic Elementary School “for demonstrating commitment, dedication, and patriotism by making an intensive commitment to service.” Congratulations!! April 1st is the Mayors Day of Recognition for National Service. Mayor Richins would like to “encourage residents to recognize the positive impact of national service in our city; to thank those who serve; and to find ways to give back to their communities,” according to a memo sent to the Council.

Scouting for food Drive

On March 22nd, 1,435 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and their leaders participated in the 28th annual Scouting for Food Drive.  The group is from the Weber View District, which serves North Ogden, Pleasant View, Harrisville, Farr West, and Plain City. The food drive was very successful in collecting 52,400 pounds of food which was collected and transported to the Ogden Rescue Mission. They would like to thank the public for their generosity of the donated food items. The amount collected was nearly 30% more than last year. They appreciated the donation of time by the youth and the leaders.

Ogden City Kicks off Bike Month with Ride to Work with the Mayor and Ogden Bike Passport

OGDEN – Ogden City kicks off National Bike Month in May with Ride to Work with the Mayor on May 2 and the launch of the Ogden Bike Passport program, encouraging citizens to join him in his pledge to bike to work every day in 2014 and use alternative forms of transportation.

Audio Books Presentation Uncovers a "GEM"

AUDIO BOOKS PRESENTATION UNCOVERS A “GEM”

Everyone was excited when they met on Tuesday the 18th at North Ogden elementary to review recent acquisitions of audio books for six elementary schools. Those gathered were members of the North Ogden Kiwanis club, representatives from Harrisville Walmart and America First Credit Union, Principals and Reading Specialists from Bates, Green Acres, Lomond View, North Ogden, Majestic and Valley Elementary.
