Harrisville

Following the Savior’s Example

Residents in Harrisville and the surrounding area are starting to notice produce being harvested at the Harrisville Crops Welfare Project Garden located next to the Deseret Industries in Harrisville. The garden, which is owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, produces all sorts of vegetables including: zucchini, squash, peppers, sweet corn, cabbage, carrots, and tomatoes. All of the produce is donated to the Bishops’ Storehouse and different food banks.

Hope of America Award

North Ogden—The Kiwanis Club has given out Hope of America Awards to sixth graders at 8 elementary schools—Kanesville, West Weber, Pioneer, Green Acres, Lomond View, Majestic, North Ogden and Valley. Fifty-four students, two 6th graders from each school, received the award of a certificate and a gift card during a school assembly to which parents and family were invited. Their teachers made the selection based on academics, citizenship, and leadership. Kiwanis members make the presentations at each school’s awards assembly in May.

Staying Ahead of the Competition

Weber County - Over the past two years, Weber State University’s athletic program has shown the country just how amazing their athletes are with wins in the Big Sky Tournament for sports, such as men’s basketball, women’s soccer, cross country, and others. So what’s helping these athletes reach their potential and stay ahead of the competition? Part of it has to do with their new training facility located at Marquardt Field House, inside the Weber County Sports Complex next to the Dee Events Center.
