Ethan Freed is the son of Yasmin Freed and Blake Freed. He was nominated for March Social Studies Student of the Month by Peter Gerlach.
Ethan Freed has been in my AP US History class all year. He is an excellent student. He writes well and he thinks deeply. By doing extension activities, Ethan had over 100% in my class at the end of 2nd Trimester. He had one of the highest scores on my final test for the trimester as well. Ethan is always alert, attentive, and engaged in the learning process. It is great to have Ethan in my class. Students like Ethan make their teachers look good! I am happy to nominate Ethan Freed for Student of the Month for Social Studies.

Shae Poulsen is the daughter of Melanie Poulsen and Dirk Poulsen. Shae is the English March Student of the Month nominated by Wayne McConkie
Shae Poulsen was a student in my first period English class during second trimester, and I’m glad to have her back for the last trimester of her senior year. So much of high school is just taking care of the little things: getting your work in, paying attention, being good to others, and getting to class on time. Shae understands it is the little things that add up to make a difference, and she doesn’t let any of them slide (in contrast to so many of her senior classmates).
Shae understands that everyday responsibility is more important than the grand gestures and that dependability can get you a lot farther than wearing a teacher down through persistent irritation. Almost every day, Shae was the first person in my classroom. She would come in, say “hi,” and find something useful to do. If every person in my classes followed Shae’s model for behavior, my days would be wonderful. If the world could follow her example of being early, saying “hi” and doing something useful, imagine how much better the world would be.

Koleman Woolstenhulme is the son of Summer Florence and Heath Woostenhulme was nominated for March Student of the Month by Sarah Bliesner in Math.
I have chosen Koleman Woolstenhulme as student of the month. Koleman is a very hardworking student. He uses his class time well and is also willing to come in at BEE time or after school to complete assignments, correct errors or get extra help. He is also great at working with his peers. He encourages his friends to get their work done and has a very positive attitude. He is respectful to me and to other teachers as well as other students. Koleman has set some goals about his grades and does what it takes to reach those goals. I am impressed with his fortitude! I have enjoyed having him in class and the opportunity to get to know him this year. Keep up the good work Koleman!!

Michelle Rodriguez is the daughter of Jose Rodriguez and Luz Rodriguez. Michelle was nominated by DJ Savage for Foreign Language March Student of the Month.
Michelle is a very bright student who works hard in AP Spanish. Michelle always has a smile on her face and does what she is asked to do without complaining. I wish I could have 20 Michelle’s in all of my classes. Michelle puts in the extra effort to help other students and make sure they understand what she understands. I knew she would be a great student from the moment she started Spanish 5 as a sophomore. She is very mature and respectful of others. There is no doubt in my mind that Michelle will one day be a great leader of her community and a successful example for others to follow. Michelle is very deserving of a student of the month award.

Logan Sauer is the daughter of James Sauer and Amanda Young. Laura Vallejo nominated Logan for March Student of the Month for Orchestra.
Logan Sauer was chosen for the Student of the month for-- her enthusiasm and passion for music. Logan is a great team player and always willing to do extra to make beautiful sound. Her sight reading skills and leadership are appreciated and an important part of our group. Thank you Logan.
Samuel Johnson son of Craig and Stacey Johnson was nominated by Officer Justin Zimmerman for Law Enforcement March Student of the Month.
Samuel Johnson is my nomination for Student of the Month, because in my four years here at Box Elder High School, I’ve rarely come across a student as respectful as Samuel is. There’s a big difference between quiet and disinterested, and inquisitive and courteous. Samuel’s questions were always related to the topic, or framed in a way to tie into the discussion. Samuel’s demeanor and example to the other students was very much appreciated…even when it didn’t have a lot of impact with classmates. Samuel’s took the time to do a good job on his assignments, and not just toss something together to satisfy the requirement. He was always mindful of others and very polite throughout the trimester. I appreciated him in class and his example to his peers.

Neil Hill was nominated by Marsha Sparks for March Student of the Month for his amazing job on Yearbook. Neil is the son of Todd Hill and Nanette Hill.
It is a great pleasure to recognize Neil Hill as Student of the Month for the Yearbook Class at Box Elder High School. Neil is a junior and was a member of the yearbook staff during second trimester.
Neil has a number of qualities that I would like to mention. First of all, he is very hard working and didn’t waste any time getting started on an assignment. This included being very detail oriented. On one particular assignment, Neil spent quite a bit of time creating the background for the Color Guard page in the yearbook using a picture of one of the flags used as a prop for this group. Another quality that I noticed about Neil is his positive attitude and the enthusiasm that he has for life. He enjoys the opportunities that he has to learn and the different experiences that being in high school has to offer. Neil is also kind, patience and gets along well with others. Charleigh Scott is the daughter of J. Hunter Scott and Lori J. Tucker. Charleigh was nominated in Science for March Student of the Month by Kristine Harding. I am nominating Charleigh Scott for Science Department student of the Month. I have personally known Charleigh for the past four months in my medical forensic class, and know her to be a positive, talented, motivated individual with outstanding work ethic. I’ve never found her to be late or off task at any point during the trimester. I have found her to have the rare combination of elite leadership qualities along with a positive, dedicated, unselfish attitude. To be successful in forensics you need to be disciplined and responsible. I have no doubt that she holds both of these qualities.
Charleigh is not only an outstanding student, but an outstanding person as well. Within the classroom her fellow classmates respect her and look to her for additional help. She has and is always willing to give help, when it’s been an appropriate time to do so. I have been impressed with her character. She may be quite, but she is respectful and eager to learn. Box Elder is lucky to have a student like Charleigh within our halls.

Kaylee Christiansen was nominated by Melanie Day for March Student of the Month for Performing Arts
I have had the opportunity to know and work with Kaylee in various situations over the last three years. It has been a joy to watch her grow from year to year. She has an unmatched passion for life and ambition to excel.
Kaylee has been a member of the Box Elder High School technical crew for the past two years. While doing this, I have been able to watch her successfully work alone and lead a team. When running rental events, she frequently and easily manages a team of 3-5 of her peers. She also has developed a very professional demeanor when working with our clients. Her fellow students love working with Kaylee because she leads by example--working her hardest and expects others to do the same.
Kaylee is also a very creative girl. I can give her any project and she will work to find a way to bring it to life. She won’t accept defeat and sees er“things not working” as a means to a solution. She takes initiative and finds a way to get the job done.
Because of her attention to detail, I have complete confidence giving Kaylee difficult tasks. She will take time to do things right and work to master any skill necessary to complete it. She takes pride in every job and because of it, everything she does is professional.
Kaylee is a remarkable young woman who comes ready to work and prepared to put in the time it takes to finish every job. It has been a pure joy to get to know her.
