The Legacy Project of the Box Elder High School Class of 1965:

For our 50  year class reunion we wanted to do something special.  Box Elder High School has been so important in our development that we wanted to leave a legacy of our appreciation.  Even though members of our class are spread across the world, we still feel a sense of belonging to Brigham City and Box Elder High School.

Thought was given for what to give.  Our class had been a part of the original marquee when we graduated in 1965.  It stood for many years and has since been torn down.  A new electronic marquee was envisioned.  The Class of 1965 reunion committee was organized and within that organization there was a legacy finance committee set up to separately work on donations, a mock up of what the marquee would look like, and how all of this could become a reality.  From these beginning it just seemed to come together.

The new $60,000 electronic marquee is a gift made possible by classmates of the Class of 1965, local businesses, Box Elder High, and was constructed with the assistance of the BEHS administration,  the Box Elder School District business administrator and physical facilities professionals.   We are very grateful to all who made the project a reality.

It has proved to be a wonderful journey.  We felt good about the opportunity to contribute.  We would encourage other graduating classes when they have their class reunions to consider having  a “Legacy” project where they in some way could give back to their Alma Mater.

Sincerely,  Box Elder High School Class of 1965,  50 year class reunion committee “Staying Alive”

To the parents/guardians of graduating seniors,

Graduation is fast approaching and we want to inform you of some procedures that will help make this graduation a memorable experience for all those in attendance.

GRADUATION CONDUCT:

The graduation ceremony is optional. You may choose to walk and celebrate your accomplishments or you may pick up your diploma at a later date from the school and not attend the ceremony. The graduation ceremony is a time for reflection and is deserving of respect from both participants and their guests. All graduates deserve the courtesy of hearing their name announced without undue noise from the audience. If a student chooses to distract from the ceremony, they will be removed. Guests will be under the same guidelines and may be escorted from the ceremony if they bring objects that distract from graduation or cause a disruption. Air horns, loud noisemakers, and beach balls are not allowed.

DRESS STANDARDS:

Every graduate must wear a cap and gown. Jostens is our provider of the caps and gowns for all students that would like to participate in the graduation ceremony. Graduation caps will remain plain on top without letters, words, or message or other objects/decorations. Please try on your gown. Girls should be in dresses or skirts and blouses, boys in collared shirts and slacks. Flip flops are discouraged. This is your graduation day and proper decorum should be followed.

The class of 2016 will graduate on June 3rd at 8:00 at the Dee Events Center. Seniors need to be there by 7:30 PM to line up in the tunnel. Graduation practice will be on Wednesday, June 1st beginning at 1:00 pm in the high school auditorium

We feel very fortunate to have had such an outstanding senior class this year. They have a bright future ahead of them and we wish them the best life has to offer. We look forward to seeing you at graduation.

Sincerely,

Gary D. Allen

Principal
