The following scholarships are available through the counseling office:

 

American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program: this is a national competition with state winners receiving scholarship. All US citizens and permanent residents who are junior and senior high school students will be considered. Must prepare an oration of the assigned topic.

ACLU Youth Activist Scholar: Senior students who are passionate about civil liberties, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and demonstrate financial need.

Utah State University is holding Diversity Leadership Conference on Friday, November 18, 2016. We would love to have Box Elder students join us at Utah State for workshops in developing leadership skills, learning about the importance of leadership in higher education, and breaking stereotypes.  Overview: The Diversity Leadership Conference is a one-day program specifically catered toward diverse and first generation high school students in grades 11 – 12.  All of the information can be found on the registration website: https:// www.usu.edu/admissions/events/dlc. Registration will close November 4th. 

Cost: $15  Own transportation is required. 

 

On this day, first generation and multicultural seniors, who are eligible, can have an opportunity to interview with a professional panel for the possibility to receive the Educational Opportunity Scholarship (they must have a minimum 103 index and 20 ACT/940 SAT and show financial need); this scholarship can range from a set dollar amount to 4 years full tuition. Students who are not permanent residents or US Citizens may still apply for the Educational Opportunity Scholarship and will be considered for private funding that will be awarded at the event as well. America's Freedom Festival invites all students from 1st grade to 12th grade to participate in the art, essay, storytelling, speech, and video contests.  Deadline is the Monday after Veterans Day, November 14, 2016. The theme is "Freedom."

Box Elder School District Foundation Scholarship Applications will be available as well as Bridgerland Applied Technology Scholarship Applications. Dixie College, Snow College, and Southern Utah University will be waiving the admissions application fees for students attending this event.   Two formal BEHS transcripts can be requested by the student and sent to two colleges at no cost during this event. Senior students will need to bring their social security number, driver’s license, and a method for on-line payment.  A parent is encouraged to attend to assist their student.   Please see the attached flyer for specific program information.  Visit or call the BEHS counseling office at 435-734-4854 for additional information.
