Any past or present student, parent, community member or colleague can nominate any member of the staff for this award. 

The recipient will be announced and presented at the Scholarship and Awards night.  The award winner will receive a $2,000 cash reward and a Larry Findley leadership plaque of recognition in their honor.

Seniors Searching for Scholarships! There are still several scholarships that you can be applying for to help pay for college. Please check the Scholarship List on the high schools webpage for these opportunities. Please be aware that several of these have a deadline of April 7th and you need to complete the application and get it turned in to the right people before that date if you want to be considered. These scholarships are the local awards and your chances of being awarded are greater than other national scholarships. One Tip: Typewritten applications are given greater consideration than handwritten application. Maximize your chances by being meticulous in your presentation of the application. DON’T MISS THESE OPPORTUNITIES!

Robbie Gunter-2016 Football Coach of the year from UHSAA.. “We appreciate your passion and dedication to the high school youth.  We feel you exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct and moral character.  We also feel you are a coach who enjoys success in your sport, but more importantly, you model positive behavior for your athletes to follow.” 

Jason Bingham-Selected by the peers and the Utah FFA Association Executive Committee to receive the Blue and Gold Award.  The Blue and Gold award honors those individuals that have been of service to the Utah FFA Association and have made noteworthy contributions. 

Kris Thompson-Honorary State FFA Degree.  The Honorary State FFA Degree honors those individuals that have been of service to the Utah FFA association and have made noteworthy contributions. 

Peter Burt and Andrew Miller-Outstanding Utah HOSA advisor.   They will in the running for the National HOSA Advisors of the year!  Box Elder if the fastest growing chapter in Utah history, largest State Chapter, and Box Elder has the most State winners than any other school last year.  In June, they will be recognized at Nationals in Orlando, Florida.

ATTENTION SENIORS:  Scholarship and Military Reporting Deadline:  Proof of scholarships and military enlistment should be reported to the Counseling Center no later than  Friday May 5th for inclusion on the Scholarship and Awards Night program (held Wednesday, May 10th at 6:00 p.m.). Scholarships and military enlistments reported after the deadline will not be indicated on the program and will not be recognized at the Scholarship and Awards Night.   It is the student’s responsibility to report this information to the counseling office!  After you have reported a scholarship you are eligible to purchase a scholarship cord, to be worn at graduation, from Mrs. Gunn in the main office for $6.00.   Cords will not be available for purchase at graduation.

The following scholarships are available through the counseling office:

 

Calvin & Reva Wiggins Foundation Scholarship: This is a $1,000 scholarship for senior students that will pursue a career in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, Engineering all disciplines.

Kaiser Page Medical Scholarship: This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a BESD student who will study in the medical field.

Lowell & Colleen Sherrett Scholarship: $1,000 for a graduating BEHS senior who has been accepted to a 4 year college or university. Must have a 3.0 GPA or better and shows leadership, integrity, kindness, and strength of character. Service, community involvement, and religious involvement are also considered.

Dale C. Young Memorial Scholarship: $3,000 for a BEHS graduate who will be majoring in Education. Must have 3.5 GPA or better, show financial need and not received any other scholarships by time of selection. Leadership, community service and other significant achievements will be considered.

Heber Lynn Orme Scholarship: Two $500 scholarships are available. One for a student who will study Home Economics and one for the area of Agriculture.

Box Elder Jr. Livestock Auction Scholarship: $500 for a student who has been active in the Junior Livestock, 4-H, or an FFA member.

Utah Association of Independent Insurance Agents: This is a $1,000 scholarship for students who will pursue a career in business or insurance. Students must have 3.0 GPA or better. Be active in extra-curricular activities. Must have an ACT score of 17 or better and demonstrate financial need.

Big Sun Scholarship: This is a $500 scholarship for student athletes. Must be a graduating senior who is participating in any sport during their senior year whether at school or in the community.

Heritage Theater Drauca J. Holmes Scholarship: Students must be a graduating senior, Utah resident, must be majoring in a field related to the Theater Arts, and must have been part of a Heritage Theater production in some way. Preference will be given to participation while in high school.

Pursuit of Higher Education Scholarship: This award is for a student that has prepared well to continue their education and has taken AP and Concurrent Enrollment classes, but does not necessarily have outstanding grades or ACT scores. Students that have an ACT higher than 26 will not be considered.

The Tyson D. Wilding Memorial Scholarship: $500 scholarship awarded to a Box Elder High School senior who has who has shown strength, determination, and courage in overcoming adversity and trial in the face of overwhelming odds. It is named in the memory of Tyson Wilding who showed great resiliency and courage as well as a positive attitude despite the many physical and health struggles he faced during his life

Ladies Community Club Scholarship: This is a local scholarship for seniors who will pursue post-secondary education. Students must show academic achievement, school involvement, and community service.

Mountain America Credit Union’s 2017 Scholarship offers six scholarships to Mountain America Credit Union members and their families. The scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, community volunteer service and a written essay about educational and career aspirations. One $2,000 scholarship is awarded in each of the following categories: Community Service and Social Service, General and Other Academic Majors, and Business and Communications Majors.
