BEHS has opened an additional section of Financial Literacy. This class is offered 3rd Trimester, 1st hour. It is open to Senior students only. On line registration for Junior and Senior students will close on Sunday, May 8th at 11:00 pm. It is important you make all selections in your schedule before registration closes!

Seniors It’s time to send in your memories from intermediate, middle, and high school to show in the senior highlight video. This video will be seen by seniors on the last day of school. It is a fun way to remember the past while taking a step into the future. Please email your pictures or video clips (club/sports/activities) of you and your friends to seniors2016@gmail.com no later than May 12. If you would rather bring your pics/videos on a flash drive, they can be transferred immediately and the jump drive given back. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Laura McKee in Room F-2. Utah State University is hosting a Scholars Day for high-achieving juniors on Friday, May 20th. We are excited to announce that students can now register to attend an information workshop regarding the Regents’ Scholarship held at our office in downtown Salt Lake. In addition students who are already familiar with the basic requirements of the scholarship can choose to meet with a scholarship representative to map out a four year course plan for the scholarship and discuss individual questions. To register for these events students can go to www.regentsschoalrship.org. Space is limited! If a student cannot attend one of these events they are encouraged to contact us directly and we can answer their questions individually by phone or email. We ask that you help us by letting your students know about this opportunity.

Students & Parents, With spring approaching, we wanted to remind you of the dress code. Your help following this dress code would be greatly appreciated. Dress Code Policy The purpose of our dress code is to teach young people that different types of dress are appropriate for different settings. Consequently, students in this academic setting are expected to be clean and neat in their personal appearance, observing standards of modesty, moderation, and good taste. “Modesty in dress” at Box Elder High School requires that students refrain from wearing tight-fitting and revealing clothing that displays visible cleavage, visible underwear, and/or bare midriffs. This includes items such as tank tops, sleeveless tops and extreme shorts. Attire that is distracting, extreme, or promotes the use of illegal drugs, tobacco, alcohol, pornography, profane language, gangs or cults is also prohibited. Since the parent is the primary educator of the student, we encourage parents to ensure that their student is in correct dress code on a daily basis while on campus and at school functions. Consequences: Due process for any dress and grooming infractions will be as follows: 1. First offense – Student will be issued a warning and asked to change to comply with policy. 2. Second offense – Student will be brought to an administrator for a conference. Parents will be notified. 3. Third offense – Student will be sent home
and parental meeting will be arranged. 4. Fourth offense - Student will be suspended and a student/administration contract written.
Senior Credit Deadline: Credit from outside sources must be received in the Registrar’s office by May 20th. This outside sources and a graduation date must be posted to the transcript in order to receive your diploma/official transcripts. Citizenship: - U’s must be made up by Friday, May 22nd, to participate in the graduation ceremony. - If you have any outstanding citizenship U’s on your transcript, you will be referred to Citizenship Class prior to May 22. Be sure to attend when referred. If you are not referred to Citizenship Class, you may refer yourself.
Scholarship and Military Reporting Deadline: Scholarships and military enlistment should be reported to the Counseling Center no later than May 12th for inclusion in the program for Scholarship and Awards Night (held Wednesday, May 18th at 6:00 p.m.). Scholarships and military enlistments reported after the deadline will not be indicated on the program and will not be recognized at the Scholarship and Awards Night. It is the student’s responsibility to report this information to the counseling office! Scholarship cords must be purchased at the Counseling Center during the school day. The cost is $6.00. Cords will not be available for purchase at graduation.
Yearbooks can be purchased at the school for $51.00. Preordered books will be sold until they are gone.
Scholarship Opportunity: The Miss Brigham City Peach Queen Scholarship Pageant is held each year the Thursday of Peach Days week (September 8, 2016). This is a great scholarship opportunity with the following scholarships being awarded: Queen - $2,000 1st Attendant - $1,000
2nd Attendant - $750 Top Talent Award - $200 Top Interview Award- $200 Academic Essay Award - $200 Community Service Essay Award - $200 Miss Congeniality Award- $200 Girls that are either juniors or seniors in BEHS on September 8, 2016 are eligible to participate and girls no older than 26 by September 8, 2016. There are four areas of competition: Interview, Talent, Evening Wear, and On Stage Question. The pageant is not only a great scholarship opportunity but provides a once in a lifetime experience for contestants. Participants will also learn skills that will be used throughout their lives. If you are interested in participating - plan on attending the orientation meeting on Thursday May 5, 2016 at 6 p.m. at BATC (325 West 1100 South in Brigham City). Any past or present student, parent, community member or colleague can nominate any member of the staff for this award.
The recipient will be announced and presented at the Scholarship and Awards night. The award winner will receive a $2,000 cash reward and a Larry Findley leadership plaque of recognition in their honor.
Caps and gowns will be handed out April 22nd (in the morning).
Graduation is June 3 at the Dee Events Center at 8:00
If anyone that will be attending the graduation ceremony needs an interpreter for the deaf, please call Teri Bassinger at the High School.
We will begin the SAGE Writing test shortly after returning from Spring Break (April 11 – 22). The Science, Math and Language Arts SAGE testing begins May 16 and continues through May 26. Please encourage your students to attend and give their best effort. Particularly avoid outside appointments during the morning hours on these days.
