Whitespace Art Gallery features "Invisible Things"
A exhibit focused on human invention, environment and progress through networks of industrial theme.
Featuring artists: Molly Morin & Stephen Wolochowicz
MOLLY MORIN uses traditional and digital methods to produce work that explores the difficult relationship between information and meaning. Her projects visualize data sets and prod at notions of accuracy and usefulness, while reflecting on the impact of information technology on daily life.
STEPHEN WOLOCHOWICZ's work is a commentary to our connectedness to a greater whole. Some parts evoke positive responses while others may not. However, they are all linked. Through viewer’s interaction with my ‘Parts’ I am attaching a human component to our industrialized system, or world. By this, I am suggesting we are linked to the unseen, unknown systems and aspects of our entire industrialized economy, regardless of our awareness.

Sundance Film Festival presents "Stockholm, Pennsylvania"
A young woman is reunited with her parents, Marcy and Glen, after being abducted 17 years earlier. Raised in a suburban basement and renamed Leia by her kidnapper, Ben, she was told the outside world had come to an end, and now she must completely reconceive her perception of it. The bright 22-year-old is also forced to reconcile her new life with parents who are virtual strangers and her past life of captivity with Ben, on whom she was completely dependent. As Leia’s growing alienation leads to her longing for Ben, Marcy slowly implodes in her attempts to reclaim her child, and the notion of what it is to be free is called into question.
In a haunting, nuanced performance, Saoirse Ronan is quietly spellbinding as a young woman whose entire basis of knowledge is shattered and her concept of home erased. Writer/director Nikole Beckwith, in an impressive debut feature, strips away the sensational tabloid fodder of the narrative to examine the origins of self, identity, and the power of language.

Sundance Film Festival presents "'71"
Yann Demange’s boldly cinematic debut feature has played to overwhelming acclaim since premiering at the Berlinale.
A young British soldier, Private Hook (Jack O’Connell) is deployed to the urban war zone of Belfast, Northern Ireland—a region divided between Protestant unionists and Catholic nationalists. When his regiment enters a Catholic neighborhood and an angry riot breaks out, Hook is inadvertently left behind. Plunged into a nightmarish no-man’s-land where the distinction between friend and foe blurs, Hook struggles to simply survive the night.
Working from Gregory Burke’s superb screenplay and aided by a relentless visual energy, dissonant score, and ever-escalating tension, Demange constructs an unsettling, increasingly surreal aesthetic that beautifully echoes Hook’s disorientation and captures the tangled web of political intrigues, convoluted factions, and shifting alliances behind The Troubles. Pursued by rival republican paramilitary factions, his own army, and Ulster commanders using him to engineer a battle within the IRA, Hook is just a pawn (or as one character says, “a piece of meat”) in the larger folly of war.
Actors - Jack O'Connell; Paul Anderson; Richard Dormer; Sean Harris; Barry Keoghan; Martin McCann
