Bicycle Safety: Creating a Safe Space for Drivers and Cyclists Alike

It’s been 2½  years since I got into the sport of road cycling, and I love it!  My husband, Mike, first introduced it to me and I was hooked right away.  The thrill of cruising down winding roads and challenging myself to the steep inclines was exhilarating!  Plus, it was something fun to do with others!  I have enjoyed being a part of several organized bike rides and look forward to many more.

Total Solar Eclipse

On Monday, August 21, 2017, all of North America will be the host to an eclipse of the sun. Anyone within the path of totality can see one of nature’s most awe-inspiring sights - a total solar eclipse. This path, where the moon will completely cover the sun will stretch from Lincoln Beach, Oregon to Charleston, South Carolina. Observers outside this path will still see a partial solar eclipse where the moon covers part of the sun's disk.

Getting Your Kids Ready for…SCHOOL!

It’s time to think about getting your kids ready for school! Good deals on supplies and clothing are all around at the stores. Might as well jump on the band-wagon and get going!  Some parents dread this time of year and others rejoice!  Whichever you are—there is a need to get prepared for you and your child.  Even if you may be homeschooling your children, there is a feeling of readiness as you begin the new year.

Total Eclipse of the Sun a Big Event!

An exciting and rare event is about to take place! -- A total eclipse of the Sun.  This occurs when the Moon completely blocks the visible solar disk from view, casting a shadow on Earth.  The 70-mile-wide shadow path of the eclipse, known as the “Path of Totality,” will travel through the country diagonally.  It will first appear in Oregon during the mid-morning time frame and then will exit around 90 minutes later off the coast of South Carolina (mid-afternoon local time).
