Recently, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints made an announcement to drop the Varsity and Venturing Scouting programs for older teen boys between the ages of 14-18 years old.  The LDS Church is the oldest and largest charter organization of the Boy Scouts of America.

Scout Executive of the Great Salt Lake Council, Mark Griffin, said, “We appreciate the relationship with the LDS Church over the past 104 years, and we’re going to do everything we can to continue serving the Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts.”

The terms “backover” and “frontover” refer to when an infant or child is accidentally rolled over by a moving vehicle in a driveway or parking lot. Though this may seem like a rare occurrence, it happens regularly and carries serious consequences.

·         Pick a PARK and have a PICNIC!  Locally or otherwise

·         Visit the fire station in North Ogden and take a tour

·         Go to the North Shore Aquatic Center 245 E. 2550 N. North Ogden

·         Play at the Splash Pad in the Harrisville Park

·         Go for a hike at Jump Off Canyon (along Mountain Road)

·         Takea hike anywhere!  But go with a friend!

·         Go to Willow Park and Zoo at 419 W. 700 S. in Logan

·         Visit Gossner Cheese Factory for yummy ice-cream cones and CHEESE!

Elder Jeffrey R. Spring is one of the greatest times to get outdoors and dust off those hiking shoes! Everything is looking fresh and green, and the air smells clean. Plus, the best part is—there are dozens of easy, moderate, and difficult hiking trails nearby—depending on your skill level and your overall interest.

But first, here are 5 tips for staying safe on the trails:

1.Be Prepared!

Spring runoff will begin in earnest this weekend; no flooding is anticipated, but please use caution near waterways!

Please come share in the beautiful interfaith Event celebrating National Day of Prayer. For the third, consecutive year a group of local, diverse people compromised of the Religious Liberty Council will come together for a multi-faith service at the Ogden LDS Tabernacle.

Those included on the Religious Liberty Council are as follows: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Stake President Paul Mackley, Pastor Dave Duncan, Dorothy Sjoblom, Stacey Giatras, Chris Battrick and John Reynolds.

APRIL IS NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH

During the summer months I used to take my kids to the surrounding libraries in Weber County for “field trips.” It was so fun! We would explore the different branches from North Ogden to Huntsville and in between.  Each library had its own personality and feel to it.  Each was a new experience to visit! 

Scrolling through the thousands of books, going to “story time,” playing in the kid’s area and being a part of the Summer reading programs have all been such a highlight for me and my kids. 

Just heard from the county that Blue Ox has withdrawn their application for the zoning amendment to MG-EX. So at this point any new application for a zoning change would need to start at square one.

Willard, UT- One of the best parts of Willard is the beautiful scenic mountains. However, many citizens are concerned that Willard’s beauty will soon be a thing of the past and they will be living in the pits. The gravel pits to be exact.
