UTA seeks input on closing Pleasant View FrontRunner station

PLEASANT VIEW — Northern Utah’s rep to the Utah Transit Authority sees a potential mechanism to generate funds to build a new FrontRunner rail line to Pleasant View.

“I Can Read with My Eyes Shut!”: Lomond View’s Dr. Seuss Day

March 2nd is a big day in history!  It’s Dr. Seuss’s birthday!  It’s also when Lomond View Elementary has their reading celebration to remember this lively and creative fellow.

Librarian, Virginia Miller, who organized this much anticipated celebration chose the theme: “I Can Read with My Eyes Shut”.  Prior to this day, every grade had the opportunity to come into the library and pick a silly set of paper glasses. They colored them in and drew in their own eyes and added personality to each set of eyeballs.

UTAH ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS TO CELEBRATE DR. SEUSS’S BIRTHDAY

Volunteers needed to read to elementary school students!

SALT LAKE CITY — Friday, March 2, thousands of Utah elementary students will be heard rhyming in unison as they participate in Dr. Seuss Day, part of the National Education Association’s Read Across America initiative.

FrontRunner

PLEASANT VIEW — FrontRunner commuter rail service to Pleasant View, with the lowest ridership in the Utah Transit Authority system, will indefinitely end in August.

The plans stem from federal rules requiring implementation of increased safety measures on commuter and freight trains and tracks by December. The cost to upgrade trains using the line north of the Ogden FrontRunner station to Pleasant View, owned by Union Pacific Railroad, would be prohibitive, thus officials opted to halt service to Pleasant View instead.

COMMUNITY LENDING A HELPING HAND FOR LEARNING

Providing the right resources that help students learn in our elementary schools is a challenge that deserves our help. North Ogden Kiwanis Club members have had this as a major goal for the past 15 years. Kiwanis is an international organization whose main objective is to serve and is focused on helping the youth. The local club has been doing just that for the past 72 years in a wide range of projects that include support for individual needs as well as support for several local schools.
