There is the old saying that says, “Time is money,” which many may feel is all about earning top dollar while giving our time to anything.  Certainly, it is rewarding to receive a paycheck after a hard day’s work, but a deeper satisfaction stems from giving one’s time without monetary value attached.  Rather, the joy of serving others has a more lasting impact overall.

Pleasant View Founder's Day 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk, Saturday June 25, 2016. Come join in for the 4th annual Founder's Day 5K Fun Run and 1 Mile Walk held in conjunction with the Pleasant View Founder's Day celebration. Runners, joggers and walkers of all abilities are invited to participate. This easy 5K course will take runners along the old canal road above Weber High School, providing beautiful views of the valley below. The one mile walk will start at the 2 mile marker of the 5K in front of Weber High School. Bring the whole family, it’s sure to be a fun time for all!

Weber High Mountain Biking Team Gearing up for the 2016 Season

The warm weather is here and summer is in full swing which also means you’ll be seeing plenty of mountain bikers hitting the trails.  In particular, you might see the Weber High Mountain Biking team or the Junior Devo team honing in on their technical biking skills as they practice for the upcoming races. 

Pleasant View News updates May & Early June

Back on May 24th there was a special work session of the Pleasant View City Council and Planning Commission. The city contracted with a company to do a sensitive lands study on the foothills area of Pleasant View. The draft report was presented a few months ago. The meeting was a follow up and discuss the final report. According to Chris Pittman he said “In a nut shell it says that we do have some areas that need to be protected.” Chris also stated “how glad he was that Sara Urry was elected to the city that council.

City News for North Ogden, Pleasant View, and Harrisville May 2016

Summer tennis lessons begin June 6, 2016, at the Harrisville City tennis courts.  Registration was held on May 10, but there may still be a few open spots available.  For more information, please visit their website at:  tennisrec.wix.com/msctennis.

            Harrisville Splash Pad season will open May 30 at 10 am.  Splash Pad hours of operation are 10am to 8 pm. And will run from Memorial Day through Labor Day.  The Splash Pad is located at the main park at 1350 North Highway 89.

Weber High School student fights child hunger

& becomes Utah Young Humanitarian finalist

 

Ogden, UtahMay 24, 2016 – After learning that 48% of the students in Weber School District were on free and reduced lunch, Michaela Kowalewski took action and played an integral role in starting the Weekend Warrior Food Pack Program, which provides 89 elementary students with a pack of food to sustain them over the weekend every week.

 

The Cost of Growth

The quaint town of Pleasant View is quickly growing by drawing large developers to the area where large lots and country living appeal to home buyers. With that growth comes the question of how much growth is too much? How much can the current facilities support?

            One town member, Tony Pitman, who served on town council for eight months feels like perhaps the town has reached the point where the town should look more at attracting new business rather than encouraging large developers.

             Pitman stated in a letter,
