NATIONAL NIGHT OUT-AUGUST 5TH OGDEN TO JOIN CITIES NATIONWIDE FOR “AMERICA’S NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME”

Tuesday, August 5, 2014 - 5:00pm

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT-AUGUST 5TH

OGDEN TO JOIN CITIES NATIONWIDE FOR

“AMERICA’S NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME”

On Tuesday, August 5, 2014, The City of Ogden will be joining forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “31st Annual National Night Out” crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by the Ogden City Police Department, will involve over 16,124 communities from all 50 states, U.S. Territories, and military bases around the world. In all, over 37.8 Million people are expected to participate in 2014.

National Night Out, a yearlong community building campaign, is designed to: (1) heighten crime prevention awareness, (2) generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs,

(3) strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and (4) send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Along with the traditional outside lights and front porch vigils, most cities and towns celebrate National Night Out with a variety of special citywide and neighborhood events such as block parties, cookouts, parades, festivals, visits from local officials and law enforcement, safety fairs, and youth events.

Ogden City Chief of Police, Mike Ashment stated “National Night Out is an opportunity to build police-community partnerships and emphasizes the important role citizens play in creating safe, vital neighborhoods.”

From 5 to 8:30 pm on August 5th, residents of Ogden and surrounding areas, as well as those across the nation, are asked to lock your doors, turn on your porch lights, and spend the evening outside with neighbors, police, community groups, and businesses to aide in the fight against crime. During this exciting event, there will be many opportunities for local residents to gather information and services at no cost. Food and beverages, prizes, National Night Out gear, and great entertainment will be available for FREE as well.

HOT AIR BALLOON FESTIVAL RETURNS TO PARK CITY

Friday, September 19, 2014 - 6:00am to Sunday, September 21, 2014 - 12:00pm

HOT AIR BALLOON FESTIVAL RETURNS TO PARK CITY

Park City, Utah (July 16, 2014) – Event organizers announced today that after a 20-year hiatus, the Autumn Aloft Hot Air Balloon Festival is scheduled to return to Park City, September 19-21, 2014.

“Autumn is such a spectacular time in Park City,” explains event organizer Monty Coates. “Park City begins to slow down just a bit, and the fall foliage is spectacular. Longtime Park City residents remember the original Autumn Aloft fondly and often question why Park City does not have a balloon festival. We felt it was time to bring back Autumn Aloft for the new generation of Park City residents and visitors.”

“Autumn Aloft was highly regarded within the worldwide balloon community,” says Mike Bauwens, Autumn Aloft Balloonmeister. “Pilots from around the world are hopeful to receive an invitation. Flying in Park City is a one-of-a-kind experience.”

More than 30 years ago, Park City resident Gene Moser and a group of local hot air balloon pilots set out to create the classiest Hot Air Balloon festival in the world. Their idea was to create a balloon festival that reflected the free-spirited, anything-goes exuberance of Park City; Autumn Aloft was the brainchild of these passionate balloonists.

Autumn Aloft is scheduled for September 19 – 21, 2014 in Park City, Utah. The event will take place at locations throughout Park City. 15 balloonists will be invited to the event.

The schedule of events includes:
