“The Drowsy Chaperone” Coming to Fremont

Plain City—Drama students at Fremont High are ready for the community to see them perform the Tony award-winning Broadway musical, “The Drowsy Chaperone.” Drama teacher, Aubrey Obray, really hopes that everyone will come out to support these students. “Even if members of the community are unfamiliar with the title of this show, it is no reason to stay away,” she said. “It is truly delightful and it'll be a surprise. It will be something new that most people outside of the theater profession probably haven't seen before.

RAMP tax a misuse of government power

Consider an 11 year old boy who gets invited by his friend to go watch a new movie that has just come out. Everyone that he has talked to says it’s a great show. He asks his parents if he can go Saturday evening. They inform him that he will be allowed to go if he has his chores done and if he has earned the money. So he spends his time throughout the day getting chores done and asking for additional jobs to earn the $7.00 that it will cost for the movie ticket. The time finally arrives to go to the movie and he eagerly heads off to the show.

Up For Re-election: The Weber County Ramp Tax

This year, residents of Weber County will have the opportunity to vote on whether to continue the one-cent recreation tax that is used to fund recreation, arts, museums and parks, also known as “RAMP.”

RAMP receives one-cent for every $10 spent on recreation in Weber County. This is "anything fun," RAMP Staff Secretary, Shelly Halacy said, including going to the movies, bowling, etc.

Election 2014 Ballot Initiatives

Elections in Utah are unique in that voters often get the chance to decide policy change by voting on initiatives and referendums during election years. Sometimes these changes result in State Constitutional amendments and this year is no exception. On November 4, voters will decide the fate of three proposed amendments that were passed during the 2014 Legislative Session by a two-thirds majority. Here is a quick rundown of the initiatives.

Amendment A – Utah Qualifications of Tax Commission Members
