At the January 22, 2013, City Council meeting, Pleasant View Police Chief Scott Jackson and Sergeant Jerry Anderson made a presentation advancing Officer Clark to Master Officer.   This advancement requires going “beyond that which is required.”  Officer Clark submitted an application for advancement and had taken a number of classes.  He has almost 10 years of experience under his belt, including police field supervisor and Senior Resource Officer for Weber High School for the last 4 years. Master Officer Clark attended the presentation with his fiancée Jessica.

The following is the full letter sent to President Obama from the Utah Sheriffs' Association referred to in the March Edition of the Sentinel Newspaper.  

"Dear President Obama:

"We, the elected sheriff's of Utah, like so many of our fellow Americans, are literally heartbroken for the loved ones of the murdered victims in Connecticut.  As Utahans, we are not strangers to this kind of carnage - one of the latest being the 2007 Trolley Square murders wherein nine innocents were gunned down - five losing their lives.

Both Weber County Sheriff Terry Thompson, and Box Elder County Sheriff J. Lynn Yeates were part of, or fully supported a letter from the Utah Sheriff’s Association(28 of 29 County Sheriffs in agreement) to President Obama declaring their firm determination to keep their “…oath to defend and protect the Constitution of the United States,...”  On January 31st, Sheriff Yeates said that all but one person he had talked to, agreed with his support of the letter.

When I attended primary and secondary school -- during the 1940s and ‘50s -- one didn’t hear of the kind of shooting mayhem that’s become routine today. Why? North Ogden- Citizen after citizen stood during the public comment portion  of the January 22nd City Council meeting.  More than 15 residents voiced  concerns regarding the city's plans to eventually finish the long-planned Monroe Blvd.  The city administration is trying to look ahead and plan road improvements and developments that will prepare the city for increasing traffic as the city continues to grow.  The population in North Ogden has almost quadrupled in the last 40 years to arrive at the current 17,357 residents.
