Utah cities' budgets are required by state law to be balanced. This is the season of the year that begins the struggle for the city councils in working on the budgets which must be completed by July 1st. City governments have various sources of income which they seek always to increase due to pressure from the citizens for more services and amenities, and city employees who always want an increase in salaries and benefits.

Letter to the editor:

The website “Wikipedia” defines “Transparency” as “the physical property of allowing the transmission of light through a material.” Specifically, in reference to the recent distribution of the NOC 4 page “Media Relations Policy” wherein is stated the “Goal… is to establish ‘transparency in government’.” A search of this phrase on Wikipedia lists this summary:

The resonance of the first North Ogden City Council (NOCC) meeting of the new-year, with 3 new Council Members (CM) was noticeably cohesive. In closing comments, the most senior CM, Wade Bigler, stated the “incoming Council Members are friends of mine with integrity, sharp intellects, and I am thrilled to be working with them.” Wade continued “We’re united in moving forward in a positive manner!” It was evident all night long.

Local candidates for city offices have been given a copy of the book "The Law" written by Frederic Bastiat. Most of the candidates are currently reading the book. The book was donated to the candidates who had not previously read it by the Citizens for Proper Government. Three candidates in North Ogden, Dave Hulme, Reed Mackley, and Brent Taylor had previously read this 85 page paperback which clearly describes freedom, justice, and liberty consistent with truth and the United States Constitution.
