"Called to Serve" LDS Church Policy Change Elicits Huge Response from Local Youth

 

                Since the announcement by LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson on October 6th of last year inviting worthy young men to serve a mission as soon as they are 18 and graduated from high school, and worthy young women to serve if they so desire as young as 19, a lot has happened.

What I hadn’t expected was how quickly he became a much better person after he quit looking at porn. It did not last - he returned to his habit as soon as the pornography-blocking software went down.

Privacy laws block me from naming this man. I can only say I knew he become a self-centered jerk before I knew he used pornography, and I noticed a profound improvement before I found out he’d quit. Because he “did not have a problem,” he returned to pornography as soon as he could. And he changed again.

Significant Movie Project Filmed at Smith and Edwards

            North Ogden residents Michael Corbett, Scott Stowers, and Isaac Barker have been working with their company Redcastle Productions on what they refer to as a "Passion Project"  to produce a very important movie, One Decision.  Heatstroke is the leading cause of non-crash, vehicle-related deaths for children.

BRIGHAM CITY – Classes are out, the school day is over and Box Elder Middle School technology teacher Matt Williams still has to push the robotics club members out the door.

 

“They’re all my favorites,” Williams said during a recent interview in the technology classroom. “All of them will go far.”

PLEASANT VIEW – Teenage History Buff Wins History Bee
Besides his family and history books, Jared Graham credits video games with helping him win the National History Bee regional finals earlier this spring.
Jared, 14, is an eighth grader at Orion Middle School in North Ogden. He won the history bee at the Salt Lake City Regional Finals on March 20. He will advance to the nationals in Atlanta on June 1.

 If the Knight family had a Coat of Arms, the motto would be “Never give up.”  Wendy Knight always dreamed of becoming a writer.  In her own way, 3-year-old Cali contributed to her mother’s motivation when she was just a newborn because Wendy started writing her book when Cali couldn’t sleep. Wendy couldn’t watch television – the noise disturbed the baby. She couldn’t read – the light woke Cali up. All Wendy could do was daydream in the dark.  “She still doesn’t sleep,” she said about Cali.
