Aaron Watson at Outlaw Saloon

Friday, June 20, 2014 - 8:00pm

country artist AARON WATSON, who's confirmed to play in your neck of the woods on Friday, June 20 at The Outlaw Saloon.  Aaron is touring in support of his critically acclaimed album 'Real Good Time.'  I'm including more info on the album and Aaron below and hope you will consider some sort of preview coverage of the show.

To start, Aaron's most recent album opened with a career-best No. 9 rank on Billboard’s country chart  for his album ‘Real Good Time,’ in addition to his biggest Nielsen SoundScan week on Top Country Albums. Remarkably, this was accomplished under Watson’s own independent HTK Records banner.  Watson helped round out the Top 10 alongside powerhouses like Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Zac Brown Band and Little Big Town. Produced by Sam Seifert and Wes Hightower, this is Watson’s eleventh album.

Speaking of charts, his last single "Summertime Girl" climbed all the way to #1 on The Texas Music Chart.  The fourth and final single from the album, “July In Cheyenne,” is the most poignant and personally meaningful on the album. You can listen to the song here: http://m.soundcloud.com/aaronwatsonmusic/july-in-cheyenne-song-for. A nod to Lane Frost, one of the most prolific professional bull riders to ever compete, the song references Frost’s career and his tragic death at Cheyenne Frontier Days. “July In Cheyenne” is the epitome of a country/western song and is resonating heavily. Aaron wanted to tell the “rest of the story” that the Hollywood blockbuster 8 Seconds didn’t tell about Lane before his untimely passing.  The song was so moving that it struck a friendship between Aaron and Lane’s mom, Elsie Frost, to whom Aaron wrote and dedicated the song.  Aaron performed the song at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in December in front of thousands of rodeo fans each night.

To add on, “July In Cheyenne” swept the Texas Regional Radio Report awards on March 29 winning Single of the Year, Song of the Year and Video of the Year.  Click HERE to watch the official music video for “July In Cheyenne,” which was recently featured on CMT’s homepage and is reached #2 in the CMT Pure countdown.

After a series of records including one of gospel songs titled ‘Barbed Wire Halo’ and a dual disc CD/DVD, ‘Aaron Watson LIVE: Deep in the Heart of Texas,’ ‘Real Good Time’ is the pinnacle of his musical tenure thus far. “It really sums up what we have been doing the last twelve years, and I feel like it is the cream of the crop for us,” he says. He even recruited names like Willie Nelson and Elizabeth Cook to sing with him on “Honky Tonk Kid” and “Leather and Lace,” respectively. Drawing from influences including Chris LeDoux, George Strait and Waylon Jennings, this record is country music at it’s core because as Watson states “country music, real country music, is cool…it’s the coolest there is.”

Watson has accumulated many accolades and critical accomplishments over the course of his career; including eight #1 singles on the Texas Music Chart.

Currently, Aaron is recording his next album with legendary producer, Keith Stegall, on the project.  This will come out later in 2014.  Aaron will also make his first appearance at CMA Fest this summer, securing a coveted performance slot on the Bud Light Stage at the Bridgestone Arena Plaza.
