2014 Jackson Hole Mountain Games

Friday, June 20, 2014 - 7:30am to Sunday, June 22, 2014 - 7:30am

Registration Opens for the 2014 Jackson Hole Mountain Games

“The Adventure Festival,” Jackson Hole’s multi-sport summer event,

expands to three days and now includes water sports

Jackson Hole, WY, April 30, 2014 – Organizers of The Jackson Hole Mountain Games—Jackson’s only trail running, mountain biking, bouldering, paragliding and stand up paddle boarding (SUP) festival—announced today that registration is now open.

The third annual event will be held June 20-22 in Jackson Hole, registration starts at $30 per leg, or $130 for teams depending on the events. Participants can go to www.jhmountaingames.com to register.

Formerly known as The Outerlocal Summer Games, the 2014 Jackson Hole Mountain Games feature an expanded program with a new Paddle Sports Symposium, featuring paddle and SUP demos and SUP race at Slide Lake in the shadow of the Tetons.

The Water Sports Symposium is the result of a partnership with the Jackson Hole Kayak Club and Rendezvous River Sports, which has held the Water Sports Symposium and Demo Day on Slide Lake for the past 13 years.

“Summer adventure sports in Jackson Hole includes paddling,” said Christian Beckwith, the Games’ founder. “We’re excited to include SUP in this year’s festival.”

Aaron Pruzan, founder of the Jackson Hole Kayak Club and Rendezvous River Sports’ owner, agreed.

“Joining forces with the Jackson Hole Mountain Games lets us celebrate all the things we love to do in Jackson in the summer.”

The three-day festival kicks off Friday, June 20, at the Teton Boulder Park on Snow King Mountain. From 5 – 9 PM, DJ El Jefe will reclaim his throne atop the Boxcar Boulder, the largest man-made boulder in the world, laying down tracks to enliven the evening.

From 6 – 7 PM, the Games’ Bouldering Director, Exum Mountain Guide and the founder of 307 Bouldering, Micah Rush, will coordinate a milk-crate-stacking contest, and from 7 - 8 PM, Jackson’s elite paragliders will take to the air to put color in the sky with an aerial exhibition that showcases the elegant skills that make Jackson Hole one of the world’s top paragliding destinations.

On Summer Solstice, Saturday, June 21, the Games take to the water. On Slide Lake, competitors in the SUP race will paddle approximately five miles through a sunken forest against the majestic backdrop of the Tetons as they test their skills in the fastest-growing outdoor sport in the nation. Water demos for both SUP and kayaks begin at 10 a.m. After a lunchtime Bar-B-Que, the Games will move back to Jackson’s Town Square, where participants will join Wild Jackson Hole’s Solstice Street Fair to celebrate the light and fire of the longest day of the year with food, beer, magic and entertainment.

Sunday, June 22, athletes will convene on the Teton Boulder Park at the base of Snow King Mountain to push their limits in bouldering, trail running, mountain biking and paragliding. Later that evening, the Games will again partner with JacksonHoleLive! in the adjacent Snow King Ballfield for Jackson’s first outdoor concerts of the summer.

Last year’s concerts, presented by JacksonHoleLive!, featured Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real. More than 6,000 people gathered at the base of the mountain to end the day with a bang.

“We are psyched to bring the Games back for their third year,” says Beckwith. “I can’t imagine a better celebration of the adventure lifestyle than this one, held at the heart of America’s quintessential mountain town.”

This four-day event took place at the Spring Training home of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Baseball Factory’s professional staff worked with players from morning until night on all aspects of their game. In addition, players participated in scrimmages and other live game situations. Maverik, a right-handed pitcher and third baseman, graduates from Spanish Fork High School this year and will continue his academic and baseball success at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT.

Baseball Factory’s staff of professional scouts, former professional players, and former college coaches will evaluate players on the field and lead a college recruiting question and answer session. Those in attendance will learn about the college recruiting process and the steps players should take in order to increase their chances of playing college baseball and receiving scholarships. Top players from the tryout may be selected to compete with Baseball Factory and Under Armour at the Baseball Factory Training & Competition in Arizona, Pirate City Christmas, and the Pirate City World Series.
