PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the Board of Commissioners of Weber County, Utah will hold a regular commission meeting in the Commission Chambers of the Weber Center, 2380 Washington Boulevard, Ogden, Utah, commencing at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, the 22nd day of April 2014.

Gillies Funeral Chapel and AFI Advanced Care Home Health and Hospice have joined forces this year to sponsor a Grief and Loss Support Group "Grief Relief."

This group currently meets at the beautiful Davis and Bott Building which is located at:

50 West Forest Street
Brigham City, Utah

Please enter the building through the north doors and proceed to the conference room which is downstairs. (Elevator available).

The "Grief Relief" support group will continue to be facilitated by Sue Hodges MSW, CSW who organized the group 4 years ago along with Brent Gillies, owner of Gillies Funeral Chapel.

Sue has a master's degree in social work and is currently practicing as a Certified Social Worker. She is the Bereavement/Outreach Coordinator for Gillies Funeral Chapel. Sue has worked as a local Hospice Social Worker with children, teens and adults who are grieving for over 14 years. She has also had a personal experience related to experiencing loss and grief in her life, as her husband, Darrell, died of brain cancer 16 years ago leaving her as a young widow to raise 5 children.

The "Grief Relief" support group is an open group which means that teens or adults who have experienced the loss of a loved one In their lives can attend the group at any time. The group will continue to meet on:

OGDEN, UT -- Weber Pathways is excited to feature best-selling writer Pam Houston at this year's 11th annual Author Dinner. This inspiring event will be held Friday, May 2nd in The Browning Theater, Union Station.

 

Ms. Houston will be speaking to dinner guests about “Contents May Have Shifted: Shaping the World into Story”. She is best known for her first book, Cowboys Are My Weakness, which has been translated into nine languages, and which won the Western States Book Award, and named a New York Times Notable Book. Her stories have been selected for volumes of Best American Short Stories, The O. Henry Awards, The Pushcart Prize, and Best American Short Stories of the Century. She is the winner of the Western States Book Award, the WILLA award for contemporary fiction, and The Evil Companions Literary Award and multiple teaching awards. She is currently the Director of Creative Writing at U.C. Davis, and at writer’s conferences around the world. Pam lives on a ranch at 9,000 feet in Colorado near the headwaters of the Rio Grande.

Major themes in Houston's work include relationships between men and women, the outdoors, animals and childhood trauma.

 

The evening will also feature music for the Blue Sage Band and food from the Union Grille. The venue is located just steps from the Ogden FrontRunner Station.
