When I was a teenager my Mom did something I’ll never forget on Valentine’s Day—she bought me a Big Hunk candy bar, my Favorite! When I came home from school I found it sitting there on my bed with a note attached, saying, “Someday you’ll find your own Big Hunk!” I loved that Valentine! My Mom knew I needed a “pick-me-up” because dating boys, at the time, was going nowhere!  And nothing beats the blues for a teenager like chocolate and candy! But most importantly, my Mom showed me LOVE.

Miniature donuts, street taco’s, tasty burgers and street fairs. They have one thing in common- regulations that make it costly to do business in Utah. These hard-working food trucks have many obstacles in their way, as each county requires their own license and health department requirements. One county isn’t prohibitive, but when you multiply it by thirty counties, the cost ends up restricting where the food trucks can do business.

When winter settles in we all tend to feel a bit claustrophobic being cooped up inside our houses with the heaters and fires going.  Drinking a cup of hot cocoa while cuddled up to a blanket, and watching another Hallmark movie, can only last so long.  Plus, the energy the kids are expending indoors can make a mother go stir-crazy! Ski slopes aren’t the only place to enjoy Utah’s winters.  It’s true.  There are many areas across the State that don’t require expensive fees for winter enjoyment.  So here are some options to do with your family--or yourself --if you need that “alone time.”

Ryan Enslow, 18, of North Ogden received his Eagle Scout Award December 7th.  Ryan, son of Chris and Rita Enslow, selected his Eagle project with the help of the North Ogden Recreation office.  The particular project that caught his eye was building little lending libraries for others to enjoy.

If there ever was a year to get your family excited about service during the holidays, this is that year. You may have noticed many people are getting into the true spirit of Christmas by doing acts of service and then posting about it on social media using the hashtag #LightTheWorld.  This is part of a worldwide Christmas campaign put out by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints wherein they are asking everyone to focus on Christlike behavior for the 25 days in December leading up to Christmas Day.

You’ve heard this question before: “What do you want to be when you grow up?”  Maybe as a kid you thought about being a fire fighter or a teacher.  How about a world-famous chef or basketball player?  Did you ever consider becoming a nurse?

Trooper Eric Ellsworth Will Always Be a Hero Among Us

This past week the community in Brigham City and the law enforcement family showed a great deal of support for fallen Trooper Eric Ellsworth who passed away in the line of duty on November 22, 2016. As a Trooper for 7 years, Ellsworth, gave his all in a job he dearly loved.
