Why Are Some People Angry at the Mayor?

J. Reed Mackley

North Ogden City just recently had some very emotional citizens speaking to the City council against the mayor’s proposal to extend the Monroe Boulevard as a major traffic corridor from south to north. Mayor Harris was proposing to take a “grant” for two million dollars received from State of Utah specifically for that purpose. You can imagine how much more vehement the voices would have been if the Mayor was saying he wanted to bond the city for another two million dollars for that street development.

Thumbs Up: Involved and Informed

Chamber meetings are usually all but empty, but this was not the case when Monroe Blvd. was discussed.

Thumbs Up: City Restores Property Rights to Over 100 Homeowners

Thumbs Up North Ogden for Restoring Property Rights to Over 100 Homeowners

North Ogden - The City Council unanimously voted to ease controls that previously restricted over 100 homes from adding a garage or converting a carport into a garage.  Many homes in North Ogden built several decades ago either don’t have a garage or car port, or the car port only allows for one parking space.  The former ordinance prohibited building a garage within 10 feet of your property line and building a garage with a width of less than 24 feet.

NORTH OGDEN REVISES MEDIA POLICY – LEAVES SOME UNSATISFIED

North Ogden revised their media policy. Does it inhibit free speech?

NORTH OGDEN – After much debate over several council meetings, the city council has revised their media policy. The original policy stated that council members should email all conversations with the media to each other. This included statements on official city stance and personal opinion.

In the revised edition another section was added to the policy that separates personal opinion and official statements. However the policy continues to encourage elected officials to email media conversations to their fellow officials.
