A White House Christmas Story

In 1823 an anonymous poem was published called, 'A Visit From St. Nicholas'.  It was credited to Clement Clarke Moore, a professor of literature and biblical scholar.  The poem later became known as,''Twas The Night Before Christmas', arguably the most famous Christmas poem, or any poem, of our time.

Dear Editor:                                             A Troubled America

The picture of thousands of invaders trying to forcefully get into America is frightful.  Especially to those living along the border with Mexico.  For years, many have had their homes invaded, by much smaller groups than the present-day caravans.

Caravan of immigrants invading America is a new type of threat to this country.

The Liberal’s idea of an opened-border-policy is a sign of insanity.

Backing Up Slowly

Frankie Sorrentino sneezed and farted at the same time.  It was loud enough to be heard at the back of the church.  Oops.  Action, reaction.  Bad compression perhaps.  It was the quiet part of the Mass when the priest was blessing the sacrament.  Frankie was kneeling in the pew in front of us.  I was in the row directly behind him kneeling with my classmates, we couldn’t stop laughing, the whole line of us grade school boys.  Frankie looked over his shoulder and and flashed us a coy smile.

America: The Greatest Show on Earth

(...with a cast of thousands!)

If our planet is being watched, monitored, by advanced civilizations in a galaxy far, far away, they are probably perplexed at what they are seeing.  It’s a stretch to think that Earth may be the greatest show in the universe, but we are assuredly well ensconced in the conversation.

I’ll get to the American show in a minute, but let’s take a look at the big picture first.

Dear Editor:

While President Trump is pardoning two turkeys for Thanksgiving, every one of us can exercize that same presidential power by choosing a non-violent Thanksgiving observance.

And here are some other good reasons:

The N-Word

Nationalism.

Words matter.  Nationalism, Patriotism, Globalism, Isolationism.

Dear Editor:                                                Hell Bound America

Man’s ungodliness reared its head once again this week in California.  At the same place, two good lawmen, rushed in trying to stop it, one lost his life in the effort.

The Sheriff described the scene inside the club as “horrific,” and that there was blood everywhere.

The blood of Man was first spilt when Cain murdered his brother Abel. After the murder, God confronted Cain, and told him, “the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground.”

Waterskiing in the Bermuda Triangle

That’s America these days, isn’t it?  Flying in the face of fear but with an arrogant panache.  Our cake and circuses society seems to have no idea or doesn’t care about how it looks from the outside, or who or what it represents from a heartfelt inside.  We’re off the rails.  We’re irresponsible.  We seem to stand for nothing anymore.

Dear Editor,

I have no fear of zombies, witches, or evil clowns lurking on Halloween. What really scares me is the meat industry.

This is the industry that deprives, mutilates, cages, then butchers billions of cows, pigs, turkeys, chickens - animals who feel joy, affection, sadness, and pain, as we do…

-- that exposes undocumented workers to chronic workplace injuries at slave wages, and exploits farmers and ranchers by dictating market prices…

Dear Editor,

If you were offered 9 dollars in exchange for 1 dollar would you take the deal?  The vast majority of us would say yes. That is the offer on the table in Proposition 3—and better yet, the investment in Proposition 3 pays dividends too.
