UTOPIA Update

UTOPIA has almost become a dreaded word for council members of Brigham City as they try to deal with the very complex issues that have risen with trying to bring wonderfully fast fiber optic internet service to the residents of Brigham City. At first the appeal seemed too hard to pass up, fast cheap internet, everywhere? Why the possibilities were endless, tourists would flock to the small cities, businessmen would come in droves, why city coffers would be overflowing with abundance thanks to it.

Perry Hometown News

With the work being done on the bridge on 1100 south at the I-15 interchange, there seems to be a lot of questions on exactly what is a DDI? A DDI, short for Diverging Diamond Interchange, is a French engineering concept in which the two directions of traffic are crossed to the opposite side to provide easier access on and off the freeway. This reduces the number of traffic signal phases needed to move motorists through the interchange to two, as opposed to the usual three or four. DDIs efficiently move high volumes of traffic without increasing the number of lanes in an interchange.

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT: Great Lengths Clothing

"We've got you covered," is the motto of Great Lengths Clothing—a modest but trendy clothing store located on Main Street in downtown Brigham City. I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted and even more surprised by the modest prom dresses at reasonable prices.  Most of them that I saw were in the $80-$125 range. They had a wide range of Sister Missionary clothing with a 15% discount.

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT: Afton's Floral

When I walked into Afton's Floral, I was greeted by friendly staff and a wonderful variety of more than just floral arrangements. They had local honey, honey popcorn, furniture, plate flowers, large chalkboards and a variety of other items that have all been locally produced. When speaking with Kyle, he told me what sets them apart is their amazing customer service.
