Tiny Signs of Spring

Tiny signs of spring pushing through the ground

Peeking past the dirt they never make a sound

But excitedly they grow

As warmer weather melts the snow

And bursting through the dirt

Effortlessly, they divert

‘Tward the direction of the sun

Where light and life began

Then, soon the brightest yellow

Adorns daffodils petals

And they sway in gentle breezes

Study Finds Environmental Response (Triggers) Make Addiction Difficult to Overcome

A recent study published by Science Daily found that environmental cues responsible for triggering the emotional and stimuli-response that leads to drug use makes overcoming addiction challenging. But, we’ve known about environmental triggers for a long time, so what is so new about this particular study? University of Guelph researchers reveal how triggers from environmental cues make quitting drugs or alcohol harder than ever before.

11 Sick Hacks for When You Feel Like Crap

These sick hacks are so helpful during cold and flu season.

Last year was brutal. We had one sickness after the other. Influenza, strep throat, a rare stomach bug… I am doing everything I can, just like most of us, to try and keep our house well this year.

I’m sure we’ll end up with a cold or two at bare minimum, so I will be keeping these hacks around to help us when we need it.

11 Sick Hacks for When You Feel Like Crap

All the De-Clutter Craze

All the craze about decluttering our houses and tidying up has taken over by storm!  I recently heard about Marie Kondo and began reading her book—referred to me by a friend.  Then, I heard about her show on Netflix where she is helping people right in their homes and workplaces.

There is something quite satisfying about watching people get rid of their things and create a space that is more inviting and comfortable.  Of course, giving up our things is not so easy—but it is doable, especially if it allows us a chance to feel some freedom.

Earthquake Readiness

Earthquake Readiness

Earthquakes have rattled the Salt Lake Valley in the last week or so, giving us an wakeup call! With a magnitude of 4.0, 3.8 and 3.3, the earthquakes were strong enough to make you jump out of bed, but not nearly big enough to cause damage. However, scientists predict that Utah is due for a massive earthquake any time now.

The Wasatch fault runs 240 miles from southern Idaho to central Utah, with several smaller fault lines running through West Valley, Taylorsville, the East Bench, and the Cottonwood fault line.
