Physician: American Children ‘Immersed in a Culture of Disrespect’

Americans have tried the kinder, gentler, let-me-be-your-friend approach to parenting for the last several decades. If the behavior problems in schools and the heightened level of sensitivity on college campuses are any indication, this parenting approach hasn’t produced the positive outcomes we were hoping for.

Family Reunions…A Blessing and a Curse?

When you break down the word, “reunion” you find the word, “union” and a reuniting of a union.  Families come together.  Family reunions are like a big beautiful tree and some are full of nuts or lemons, but that’s what makes them unique!

NEW LAW GIVING VICTIMS A SECOND CHANCE AT JUSTICE NOW IN EFFECT

July 1, 2019 new laws across the country have taken effect. Being a victim of a crime can leave the person feeling powerless and when local prosecutors decline to prosecute the perpetrator it can leave them feeling victimized a second time. Until the passage of H.B.15 if the local prosecutor declined to pursue charges then a victim was left with no options for justice. With the new law  a victim or their family member can now petition the Attorney General to review the case for a second chance to prosecute.

STATE KNOWS BEST? WHEN IS IT TOO MUCH POWER?

April 13th, 2019 should have been a day to rejoice for Timothy McGaffin and his wife, Cheri. They welcomed a new baby girl into their family. It was a normal home birth with a midwife attending, about 4 hours after the birth they noticed their babies eye twitch once. They were a little concerned and decided to have their baby checked over by a physician. It was a weekend so the best option was to drive to their local hospital.

Protect the Spiritual Power Line

One day while working around our home, trimming the hedges and vines, I had an interesting experience. I was at work with my electric clippers and long extension cord. I had done this often, each time reminding myself of the need to use these clippers with great care in order to avoid cutting things that I shouldn’t.

Suddenly the blades became jammed. Caught between them was the power cord itself. Because I had not seen it in the thicket I was trimming, I had cut into the very line that was providing the power to work.

Children who don’t have a regular bedtime behave worse & develop slower

I just watched an episode on the TODAY show that proved what I already knew:  Irregular Bedtimes for children (and adults) leads to worse behavior,  slower development, and health issues.

Consistent routines & regular bedtimes for kids and adults is extremely important.   Going to bed at 8:00 one night and 10:00 the next night is a mistake, according to the latest reports.  Even a one-hour difference each night makes a significant difference.

Household tips for Bugs - GO AWAY

Keep Wasps away with a brown paper bag.

The wasps and yellow jackets see it and think it's a hornet's nest and they avoid it.

It's easy, cheap and uses no poison.

Fill a brown paper sack and then tie off the end and hang it up. Voila!

They actually do make a "Bee Free Wasp Deterrent" they are available on Amazon or just use the trick above and see how it works!
