Please submit comments to the US Forest Service if you enjoy outdoor recreation in our national forests.  If a planned joint timber sale on 3 national forests in NE Oregon is allowed, it might set precedent for similar sized sales on other national forests across the nation.

SB 43 (Forcing Gun Control Down Kids' Throats) Flies through Senate
Senate Bill 43 creates a pilot program to indoctrinate 8th grade government school students regarding "firearm safety and violence prevention", which is code for gun control.  The Utah attorney general's office would "collaborate" with the state board of education, both notorious gun control advocates, in unilaterally setting the curriculum and choosing the instructors.

As a lifelong hunter, fisherman, outdoor enthusiast and Utahn (also a Republican), I rely on Western-state public land for my activities. It is angering and dismaying to see crackpot Bundy-type “militia” groups, entitled-feeling ranchers, and hubristic Utah and other Western politicians (including my own representatives) attempt to take that land from me. National Forest, BLM, and other public land belongs to all Americans, not just a few with self-serving interests. It’s a national heritage and what makes the West the West.

Let’s get beyond this ‘heroic patriot v. the socialist Luddite’ narrative. The most powerful tool in the dissenter’s repertoire is doubt. Once sown, it can be difficult to dismiss. But, as powerful as it may be, it is as equally inauthentic; and it highlights either a lack of imagination or an inability (or at least an unwillingness) to go toe-to-toe in the arena of logical reasoning.
