Seat Belts:

I am 77 but alert, have good vision, and I drive alone extensively. I am 5'3" and seat belts choke me coming right across my neck and the bottom belt cuts right across my stoma - I've had a urostomy and have a urostomy bag on my abdomen. I CANNOT safely or comfortably wear a seatbelt. No, I've tried all adjustments, it doesn't work. Seat belts were NOT designed for little people but apparently for big men without breasts.

I travel alone so if my body flies in an accident, it will hurt no one else.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR South Willard Water project

Dear Editor,

I would like to comment on the secondary water project in South Willard.  I happen to have a larger property of 1.5 acres—most lots in the area are .5 acres.  We moved here because we could afford a larger property.  We wanted our children to experience a little bit of the farm life that I had as a child.

AMERICAN PATRIOT E.G. KING

On Independence Day 70 years ago, Ernest G. “Son” King celebrated the 4th of July holiday with his wife, Helen, daughter, Melanie, and year-old son, Mike, at their home in Columbus, Georgia. The month before, there had been a bigger celebration as he returned from Germany after VE Day; the war in Europe was over. Uncle Son had been gone since September of 1943, transported by troop ship from New Jersey to Liverpool, England. His 506 PIR (Parachute Infantry Regiment) became part of the 101st Airborne—the Screaming Eagles.

ALPHA & OMEGA MALES

In the animal kingdom, the elephant is dominant; few predators even attempt to attack one. The male bull elephant is pre-eminent, but when adolescent males are isolated from the herd and influence of mature elephants, they become troublesome, attacking each other as well as other species. Similarly in contemporary 21st century inner-city USA, unsupervised adolescent males create many problems with criminal behavior of all kinds that lead to conflicts with law-enforcement and resulting in the decay of entire neighborhoods.

Dear Editor - Animal Cruelty

Dear editor

I have always been sensitive when it comes to animals. I have a deep love for animals that goes back to my childhood and I have long been troubled by animal cruelty. So often in the media you see cats and dogs abused by humans. It’s so awful to hear of the things we put animals through. I was thrilled when Utah made egregious animal cruelty a felony.

Why Animal Research is Vital to Human Health
By Frankie L. Trull

This spring marked the 60th anniversary of one of the greatest breakthroughs in the history of public health. Researchers announced the success of vaccine trials for polio, the viral illness that crippled children and terrified parents.  Those trials paved the way for the eradication of polio in the United States.

That remarkable breakthrough depended on animal research. Indeed, animals are indispensable to the development of vaccines and medical treatments.

What's the Problem? What's the Cure? Would Prayer be Appropriate?

What's the Problem? What's the Cure? Would Prayer be Appropriate?

During the last session of the Utah legislature, there was much discussion about the need for a new and larger prison and about the fact that we have more per capita prison inmates than other countries. Those who were asking for prison reforms said that many of the inmates are in prison when they should actually be in hospitals or in treatment programs instead. Their assumptions were that psychologists and psychiatrists would be able to solve these problems, and do it with less expense. Is that so?

School Districts Should Tell the Feds to Take Hike

Witnessing the threat the Obama administration is making to school districts across the nation that they must open their restrooms to transgender (i.e. confused) persons or lose their federal funding, is finally making it clear to those who have not understood up to now... the federal government should have no involvement with schools whatsoever!
